"W-What?" Jason stumbled back. "But wasn't his essence scattered so greatly that it disables him from reforming?"
I shrugged helplessly at him. I, too, was at a loss of what to do. Annabeth cleared her throat. "Okay, listen guys--" She was interrupted by my Mom's shout. I looked back and sighed--out of frustration or something else, I had no clue.
I looked at Jason straight in the eye. "Jason, explain everything to her." I paused. "Everything." I stated once more just to get my point across after seeing him nod, albeit hesitantly, I stated walking away. "Don't worry," I promised him. "I'll be back before you can say 'Apollo and Artemis' sibling rivalry'.
"Okay," Was Jason's only response before turning his head to Annabeth.
I went over to my mom and told her that I would be staying here for the week.
She started bombarding me with questions like "Where will you sleep?", "Do you know these people?" to "Why are you going to leave me again when I just found you?"
That question hit me like a wrecking ball. (Yeah, Miley Cyrus reference. Deal with it) "Look mom," I said as calmly as I could without breaking into tears. "I love you. I swear on the River Styx that I'll explain everything to you after all this-" I gestured around me wildly. "Is over."
"Percy," She looked me dead in the eye, " I believe you and please... do make it out alive." She blinked, startled at her own words.
"Percy," she said shakily,"Did I just ask you to make it out alive?"
"Yeah, mom and it's a pretty normal question..." I said chuckling, awkwardly, fondly recalling all the times she said that very same sentence.
"What do you mean?" Paul asked.
"I'll explain some other time...Now, I have a mission to do."
My Mom and Paul nodded. They went in the car while I just stood, there, watching, them drive further and further away from me.
I walked towards Annabeth, whose eyebrows were scrunched up as if trying to take in every single thing Jason said.
Wise Girl, I thought, You will always be my Wise Girl, no matter what the Fates throw at us...
That was when I heard an explosion somewhere near the cabins.
I gulped and cursed in Greek rapidly in my head. I felt my pocket for Riptide. "Schist!" I cursed. "Where the Hades, is my pen?"
Jason's face was twisted in shocked and warned me."Language! We could get in trouble for that."
"Whatever, Sparky!" I snarked still checking my pockets.
"Sparky?!" He looked at me affronted and a vague sense of homesickness entered his voice.
"Do you have your sword?" I asked him ignoring his remark.
"No." He aid plainly. ""When I woke up here, I lost everything. From my sword to my Camp shirt. Even My SPQR tattoo."
"Do you have any deadly things?'
"Two knives." He replied tossing me one of them.
"Not a weapon, but good enough." I said. Actually...where did he even get these from?
Annabeth just stood there wide-eyed. "What are you going to do?" She asked. Worry etched in her voice.
"We're gonna check out the explosion." I said nonchalantly, testing the grip of the knife. Then I looked into Jason's eye and nodded. Together, Jason and I raced to the cabin area.
"Hey!" Annabeth shouted, causing Jason and I to turn around all the while still running.
"What?" We asked in unision.
"No running while holding sharp objects!"
I rolled my eyes.
"Sorry, but we have some butt-kicking to do." I yelled across my shoulder.
" What are you crazy?!?" she shouted
"Yes," Jason answered. " Yes, we are."
Then we ran as fast as we could to the cabins.
