The sea goddess

Part 6

Wing and stone crept round the back of the dusty old tents that the strange people had put up. Their plan was to slip through the gap they had escaped and tell their people. When they neared the tent that the people were being held one of the strange men spotted them and walked towards them.  Wing started to panicked then saw stone pick up some stones and copied. The man pointed his gun at them and said something in an angry voice. Stone threw a stone right at the man's head making him bleed, he roared in fury and hit stone in the head with his gun. Wing threw two rocks at him landing them both right in the middle of his fore head. The man stumbled back then fell, the blood from his head splattering everywhere. Wing and stone crept forward till they found the gap and slipped through. The first person they found was a girl who looked about 14, they poked her and she turned around. Stone whispered in her ear and told her to tell the others then together stone and wing ran back to the forest.  

Wing, stone and pearl/manuka's dad's pov (aka fire) 

Fire sat restlessly wondering where stone and wing were, his heart still ached for his dead wife. He would make them pay!. He noticed a lot of whispering then one women turned to whisper in his ear. "The sea goddess is going to save us" she said "when the strange people go to their ships she will send a big wave, we must stay back". Fire couldn't Believe what he was hearing "there is no sea goddess" he hissed back furiously "is this whole island unfaithful!". "He has abandoned us in our time of need" the women argued "you're daughter was right". Before he knew what he was doing fire slapped he women hard in the face. She yelled and drew back, one of the strange men came towards him. He yelled at fire and fire meet his gaze with furious eyes. The strange man pushed the other people away then started to kick fire again and again. Fire scrambled back and leaped to his feet punching the man right in the side of his face. Another one of the strange started to fight fire. Eventually fire collapsed on the ground in a bloody bruised mess. The men exited the tent. Finally after a lot of silence an old women came up to fire and helped him up then did the best she could to treat his injuries. At about mid day most of the men left to the camp site and walked down to the beach. Anxious but exited looks passed around the tent. They would see if there really was any sea goddess fire thought. Then some men grabbed the villagers and marched them towards the beach with their sticks. As they neared the beach some villagers panicked and were killed with the sticks the strange men carried. They were made to sit in a group about 30 metres from the beach. Fire's chest ached from the fight earlier. The waves started to become rougher as the strange men went towards their ships. Maybe I'm wrong fire said maybe there will be a giant wave!. "Look" fire said "eel man is sending a wave to save us!". "It is the sea goddess!" The people argued. Fire scrambled up not caring about the pain in his head and ran towards the beach just as a massive wave crashed down on the shore. Fire ran into the wave, eel man would spare him. The wave sucked him under the water and blackness engulfed fire. He tried to swim to the surface but the current pulled his him deeper. He started to panicked and blackness swirled around him then he felt hands grab him. He turned to see the face of his daughter Manuka. "See father" she said "I am the true goddess" he opened his mouth in shock. Had he been wrong this whole time, I'm sorry he said in his head to her. Her eyes were filled with pain and anger, "I could save you" she said "but why should I?". Fire looked pleadingly back at her one last time before the blackness swallowed him up.
