The original book is by William Ritter. It's called Jackaby, and I'm OBSESSED with it! I suggest you stop reading this and go read the book RIGHT NOW before I spoil it for you!
If you have read Jackaby, great. You know what I'm talking about.
I got this idea off of Jackaby having no pictures in his house. What if he was always like this, but had someone in his life who convinced him to change that. Then something happened and Jackaby, feeling hurt, went back to his normal life.
Then I got the idea... What if its a girl? What if this said girl broke his heart? Or died? Or left him? Or what if Jackaby himself ended it and hated himself for it? Or what if Jackaby's job got her killed?
Now, don't jump to conclusions. Those might not be my final resolution. We'll have to see...
