Year 15××

The sun shines through the window in the bedroom. There is a bed where a woman lays who just awaken because of the nightmare she had. Almost every night she would dream of nightmare because of a vague but haunting past. She sat down in her bed for a while and looked at the window.
With a resolve to do her job, she stands and immediately dress up in her uniform.

It had a breastplate fit for a woman, sleeves long and and skirt that reaches just above the knee; just simply fit for a fighter.

She has brown hair and sharp red eyes that can scare anybody who attacks her. She is slender and her body is fit for a fight.

Yes, she literally a fighter because she is the first woman to ever gain that title and the most famous and strongest swordswoman in Valencia kingdom, Astraea Marie Veneracion.

Currently living in a place where people who want to wield swords train, she became one of the mentors since she can beat anyone who challenges her. She became a bodyguard or protector of some powerful or famous people.

She is known to be "The Swordswoman of Valencia". Despite her title and some offers for some 'bodyguard' jobs she turned down most of them which is why the people who experienced her as there bodyguard are really lucky people.

Having one final look at her handmirror she spots something on her table and realized that she received a letter. It is from the most important person: the king. She was quite shocked to receive such a letter from himself.

She read it and the letter said, "Dear Swordswoman,
Greetings! I am King Frederick Severus Goldstein. I guess you are shocked by this letter considering I am king. I would want you to come to the Goldstein Castle to talk about something. Don't worry, I won't cost you any trouble but you will meet someone important. I am expecting you to arrive by the time the clock strikes 9. I will be waiting for your arrival in the throne room. - The King." It had the king's signature which is a proof it was from him.

She immediately stood up, still holding the letter and opened the door. She walked as fast as she could even walking past some trainees. She then arrived at the main gate of the training area and opened it with a push.

Since the training area is far from the Central Square she had to run as fast as she could. She arrived there, many people walking and chatting with others. As she came across each person they stared at her, happiness or pride in their faces. Of course they would be glad seeing the famous swordswoman around. Murmurs can be heard but instead of being bother she walked fastly.

Looking at the clock tower in the middle of the place she saw that the clock hands are facing 8:50. She only had little time left and she did not want to be late, most especially to an appointent from the king. She did not walk or run. She was already sprinting as if she was one of the people who participated in public marathons in the Royal Arena.

At last she arrived infront of the castle. Guards blocked her path but she showed them the letter. After looking at it they allowed her to pass and they opened the gates.

The castle was huge and it is like made of marble. It is shiny and its curve are smooth. The big door to the inside of the castle is made of wood but with some carvings.

Guards opened the big door and Astraea went inside. The door closed behind her and she walked sliently in the hallway.

There were other doors that lead to rooms and there are some corridors connecting to other places in the castle.

She asked some guards to where the throne room was. At the end of one corridor, a big silver door can be seen that lead to the said venue.

She went inside and saw the 'quite' old king sitting in his throne as if he waited for a long time.

The king has black hair
"Well you arrived at the exact time said. I am glad to see you come here, Miss Swordswoman," the king said. Astraea chose her words carefully before she spoke to him, " Your Majesty, it is my honor to be called her. And if you don't mind, please call me as Astraea."

The king said," I called you here because I have a task for you. It is important because a single mistake can kill him."

Astraea thought about what he said, "Kill? Mistake? Him?" She may be a swordswoman but she still can be a tad bit clueless about things.

The king continued, " You, Miss Astraea, are tasked to protect my son, the crown prince, Alexander Jonathan Goldstein." "Pardon Your Majesty?," she asked with a confused tone. "You will protect the prince until his coronation which would be held in a year. The reason I asked this from you is because you are good at combat. I also want to be sure that my son is safe from any harm."

She was about to ask for more questions until she heard the door open."Oh there you are! Miss Astraea, meet Prince Alexander," the King introduced his son to her. The prince is walking to his father while passing by Astraea. Arriving at his father's side he looks back at her, eyes cold and an unemotional face.

The prince had blonde hair and cold blue eyes just like his father. He was a bit taller than Astraea and he had a quite slender body build. He wore a
red suit that is usually worn by royals and shiny black leather shoes. In his left side sword that can be used in case of danger.

The king then said, "So please give your introductions to each other. You will be with each other for a year so I expect you to also respect her Jonah." They faced each other and somehow the castle is full of light coming from the sun. The prince introduced himself first,"I am Prince Alexander Jonathan Goldstein. I will be in your care, miss." "I am Astraea Marie Veneracion. I hope you can trust me Your Highness." She spoke, showing a bit of nervousness.

Prince Alexander stood erect and faced her. She then knelt and bowed at him. Speaking in a pleasant voice with respect, "Your Highness, I hope you can trust me and use me as your 'tool' to be safe. I will do whatever I can to let you live." The prince said looking at her,"Then I will trust you, my swordswoman."

Silence filled the room and she stood and showed him a smile full of assurance and bravery.

They never knew that day when they met was the start of their love story and the tragedy that awaited them in the future...
