falling

The last thing I remember is falling.

Falling into a vast pit of nothing miles of darkness swallowing me as I sliced through the atmosphere. I would say I shook with fear but I was falling so fast I found it difficult to think let alone shake. Grasping onto any thoughts I could, my mind raced with unintelligible flashes. My thoughts like fragments coming in bits and pieces. Where was I? Where am I going?  I questioned myself but no matter how hard I focused the next second I found myself overtaken with confusion, stuck once again with the task of trying to think rationally.

Time was hard to decipher in this deranged place, wherever I was. I could not have been here long.  I had guessed I was falling or perhaps had fallen into a hole maybe even off a cliff? but I could not for the life of me remember how I got here.  Racking my brain did nothing but scramble it. Wherever this was it must have been a deep hole because it felt like I had been falling for hours, days even. Nothing here but the darkness to surround me as my inner being shook with frustration and fear.

It was faint but I heard myself sinking, like I really was being swallowed whole by the infinite nothing. The air silent with slight the aftertaste of eerie stuck in my throat.

No one around me to hear my cries, my begging falling on deaf ears. Frantically glancing around  trying to gather anything about this place, looking for anything to hold onto I convulsed in vexation. Yet nothing but the darkness greeted me.

Quickly growing with anger my arms whipped around as I writhed through the air, spasming trying desperately to grab on to something, anything to stable myself. My shirt flapping like a flag in the wind. Surrendering to the might of the wallowing dark. Wouldn't have thought I was falling unless the small stream of light above me was getting further away. The light, funnily enough, had decided not to illuminate the mysterious pit I was falling down.  There was an incredible force pushing me down and drowning me. No, that couldn't be there wasn't any water around me, in fact there was really nothing. Just black nothing enveloping me. It almost felt like there wasn't any kind of anything at all around me, not even air.

I opened my mouth to scream but no noise came out, not even the squeak of my dry throat. Never the less my mouth hang open as silent echoes escaped the chasm of my mouth, the vibrations absorbed once again by the eternal darkness.

I fell deeper into the pit of nothing  and there was not a thing I could do about it as I sunk ominously.
