The pearls in the Trident were my idea and a major plot point, Poseidon does not have a trident with magical pearls in them.

~Percy~

My heart pounded in my chest, not sure exactly if I should take this risk. Yet all the proof I had led me to this moment, I held my breath and took the pearls representing the seven seas from my fathers trident. Only two of the seven pearls I could take, otherwise Triton would know the missing were fakes.

As soon as I took them I felt the magic and powers course in my veins. I could see why this was Triton and his mothers first step in overthrowing my dad. It was the source of all of his magic, he wouldn't be able to defend against him without it.

I shook my head and placed the fakes into the missing slots of the trident. I slipped them into a pouch Hermes had given me, I didn't mean for Hermes to know, but he ease dropped on Apollo and I.

I pushed open the door and swam out, two guards stood next to the door. "I could of swore my dad was in there, sorry to bother you two," I excused, and then swam away.

As soon as I turned the corner I saw Triton and Amphitrite with a group of guards behind them, they came early. I passed by them, bowing my head a bit as I passed them.

I knew exactly what they were up to, I remember what they said.

~Flashback~

I was swimming around the Palace looking for a gem to give to Annabeth. I passed the court and heard talking, nobody ever goes there. I decided to ease drop on the people talking.

"I think we take the trident first, he can't defeat us without it," Amphitrite said.

Wait, What?

"Good idea, it's time to get rid of him," Triton' voice said.

"I guess it's just a family tradition at this point, Son kills father," Amphitrite joked.

I heard nothing and decided to get out of there, if they had found out that I heard them say their plans, I would be dead.

But why? What reward or motive would they have in killing my dad?

~Flashback over~

I zoomed out of the palace, trying to get to the surface as soon as I could in case Triton had noticed the pearls being fakes.

His first order of business would be to either get every sea creature he could under control, or to kill any body who could defy his right to the throne, which would be me.

I broke the surface, Apollo' chariot shone in my eyes. He held out his hand for me to take, Hermes stared at me with worry. Apollo hoisted me out of the sea, and onto the chariot.

"So?" Hermes asked.

I responded, "They came early, but I got the pearls. Your plan worked."

"Good, but I think we need to get going," Apollo said. He took off with a jolt.

There was silence, but Hermes broke it. "Are you sure about this? Your father will disown you if you're wrong," he advised.

I looked at the blue sea, I stared at it a few seconds more. It began turning a murky grey, meaning that Poseidon had became weaker.

"I think I'm right, Apollo, could you get us out of here quicker?" I rushed.

"Yeah, on it," he said to me.

"So what are you going to do with the pearls?" Hermes asked.

"For now, I have no idea. I'll just play the long game," I responded, "if I was right, which I'm almost certain I am, then Chiron will talk to me about it. Then I guess I'll show him the you-know-whats."
