I have slipped the surly bonds of earth many times before, the only thing that ever changed was my destination. Having prepared for this mission over a gruelling but fantastical last few months, I set out to be the first to observe. Soring over cities and towns, I dreamt of what life must be like for those who can spent all there time in the ocean of sapphire which hovered ever so slightly above the flowing teal sea. All was running well, just like it had before. This was my time to find what no other man had been able to see before.
Sunwards I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun-split clouds. All seemed perfect, everything was as expected, and should remain that way until my return. Skating across the high untrespassed sanctity of space, I sliced through the permeable membranes that formed land in the air. Up, up along the delirious, burning blue, I ventured on, severing all ties to home that had since remained after my departure. Freedom at last. I was a bird flying solo, as I began my search for prey.
Having regained my focus, I concentrated it all on the mission that had brought me here- observation and nothing more. Shielded by a sea of clouds, I began my descent for a more precise and detailed description for the officers at home. My report now perfect, I started my ascent, an ascent that should have been easy for someone of my natural skill level and training, but an ascent that went horribly wrong. With a slight slip, I was immediately gazed upon by the life of those whom my country want to destroy.
With a contorted reversal, I attempted to make amends for my crucial mistake, but there was no hope. I could have struggled for all I wanted to, but there was no point, there was never any question of my return. I was always anticipated to fail, they never even invested the resources into my return. I have proved their expectations. With my final acceptance of failure, I reached out my hand and touched the face of God.
