Alexander's POV

Here it was. King's College. A place where I, along with my twin sister Alexandra, could make a difference in the world. But before I get ahead of myself, let me introduce myself.

My name is Alexander Hamilton, I have a twin sister named Alexandra, and we grew up in Nevis in the Caribbean. We lived with our mother, father, and older brother and sister James and Jenna, who were twins as well. When we were 10 our father left, being debt-ridden and unable to care for us. Fast forward 2 years and Alexandra, mother, and I were bedridden half dead. We were sitting our in own sick the scent thick, and Alexandra and I got better but our mother went quick. After that, we had frequent nightmares and would often cry out to each other. Our names were then shortened to the nicknames Alex and Alexa. We then moved in with our cousin, who committed suicide and left us with nothing. There was a voice in my head that sounded a lot like my mother's saying "Alex you gotta to fend for yourself." I knew that I shouldn't ignore my brother and sisters, but I needed time to cope. So, I started writing. But then, a hurricane came. It took James and Jenna, who drowned, along with any sense of self I still had. Luckily, both Alexa and I survived, and I knew, we had to get ourselves out of Nevis.

We started writing detailed descriptions of the hurricane and its aftermath, and soon, our writings made it to everyone in the town. They made a collection of money and sent us to New York, where we could get an education. They also told us that if we were to get famous, we must come back and help. And so we promised. Alexa because she was a kind soul, and I because I owed these people more than money could ever give. I owed them my life.

So here we are, 19 years old and standing in front of King's College, hand and hand. "You ready for a fresh start?" Alexa asked. "It appears so," I reply. "Are you?" "As ready as I'll ever be." I knew she was nervous, so I gripped her had securely, our way of saying that we won't be ripped apart. She glanced at me with relief, and with that, we made our way to the main office.

When we walked in, a girl who looked a few years younger than us sat at the desk. "Excuse me, do you know who's giving out schedules and keys?" Alexa asked politely. The girl looked at us for a minute, then smiled and laughed, her curly hair shaking around her shoulders. "You must be new. My name is Margarita Schuyler, but you can call me Peggy. I am the secretary, at least at the beginning of the year. What are your last names?" "Hamilton," I replied, feeling a bit uneasy. A secretary younger than most of the students? Strange. "Ah ha! Here they are. Alexandra and Alexander?" "Yes, we're twins," said Alexa. "Oh, you're like me. My twin's name is Peter. I've also got older siblings that are twins, though I'm sure you'll meet them later." She smiles, as if she's thinking of a fond memory, then turns back to us and nods. "Let's see. You're in a room with... oh. Well, I hope you guys aren't too uncomfortable with fusion," she says with a face that I can't identify. "Isn't fusion only supposed to be between married people, and in public?" I ask, feeling concerned. Are our roommates married? "Oh, no. Many people fuse, especially twins and siblings. Your guys' roommates are just... ah... very comfortable with fusion. Alexandra, you'll be with Jane, Hercula, and Marquia. They're nice, don't worry, just beware of their energy. And Marquia is quite, well, touchy," Peggy said with a smile the whole time, that showed that she knew these people and was quite fond of them. "Now, Alexander, you'll be rooming with John, Hercules, and Marquis. If you're into getting your sleep, you might want to wear earbuds at night, 'cause John's a lightweight, Marquis, who goes by Lafayette, by the way, drinks straight up vodka, and Hercules likes to try to see if he can drink enough to get himself hung over." She chuckles a bit, as if she was used to describing them to others. Maybe she was. Maybe everyone else before me just couldn't handle them. Just thinking about it made my head hurt.

"Here are your schedules, and room keys, and here is a map, just in case you don't know where you're going. Now, anytime you need help, either come here or ask someone where to find me, and they'll lead you in the right direction. And, I know this isn't really my place, being younger than most of the people here, but try to make friends with your roommates. Their lovely people, they just need to be given a chance. Too many people have quit on them, and I'd hate to see another heartbreak. Though they do have each other, both groups are looking for another person, and by what I've read about you two, I think you'll be perfect for the spot to balance them out."

Peggy looked at us in a way that I haven't seen directed towards us since we were little and our mother was around. It was love. And though it should be strange, given she's a few years younger than us, it somehow felt, right. We thanked Peggy and walked out of the office, hand in hand once again, ready to face our interesting roommates.
