I know why I was sent here, I knew what I was supposed to do. What I didn't know was how I was to go about doing it or better yet, why she chose me to do it in the first place. I was told that she is beautiful beyond compare but coming from her mother I thought that she was just being biased, but dear God, she was. So much so that I found it hard to believe that she has never been touched in an intimate way of any sort. The way she reacted by the mere brush of my hands on her hips was just too pure, even the flush on her cheeks was innocent. But on observation it was obvious that she doesn't appreciate herself and though friendly to everyone, she avoid getting attached, maybe in fear that they might leave. Except that Alia girl with whom she's so unhealthly close to, she's a bit vulgar if you ask me. And despite all that I couldn't stop thinking about her, like now I'm suppose to be on patrol but instead I'm here by the door waiting for her to get home. It not like persons usually step foot on this compound anyways, so I'm not exactly slacking off. Eventually I made it back to the office post.
It was after seven, when we were about to eat dinner that Todd's phone rang, where he took it outside. There were four of us who chose to live in the security house that was provided. Since Todd was the head guard, it was mandatory for him to stay, then there were Brad, Carlos and I.Brad was a big, broody guy who said little to nothing at all but he wasn't like me. At least I talked to the others, if he didn't think something needed to be said then he didn't say it, which was mostly everything for him. He was, what my old team would call, an internalizer. With his clean-shaven head, thick beard and being almost a foot taller than me, he was quite an intimidating figure, even for me.
Carlos, on the other hand, was a lean, well built guy who did things just for shits and giggles. He had just finished training when Amelia hired him so he was the youngest of us four. We were reminded last week when the guy dyed the tips of his blonde hair dark blue, saying no one will notice because it looked like black. Not sure if Brad saw, pretty sure he didn't care. Todd saw it but said nothing and Amelia saw it and said it 'looked cute'.
And then there was Todd, of all of us he was the closest to Amelia. He is as tall as I am, with a thick head of brown, curly hair and of a very good built. He's a good leader, always making sure that we are comfortable with the task that we are assigned and seeing to it that at the end of the day the job is done. He wasn't much of a hard ass and knew how to relax. I haven't seen him with a woman since I've gotten here but I think he has a thing for Miss Lockhart or at least she does.
Todd then rushed in looking worried, "That was the hospital, Miss Hart was attacked and robbed outside a local diner in town"
We all stop eating and stood.
"What! Who the fuck would do something like that?" Carlos asked angrily.
"I thought she wasn't supposed to go out, unless to work, without any escort of a sort," Brad frowned.
"I didn't get the details. All I know is someone has to go get her since miss Lockhart isn't in town," he then pointed at me, "Your coming with me and Brad take carlos with you to get her car, there should be a spare key in the key compartment."
Forgetting our dinner, we each exited the house and heading into our cars. On the way I couldn't help but worry about Amelia. Was she ok? Why was she out so late? Why would anyone attack her? I'm sure if you asked her for money she would have given it to them.
Arriving at the hospital we hurriedly entered as Todd went up to the front desk. He then waved towards me and I followed him to room 40 where a doctor greeted us.
