"That the worst episode of bipolar disorder I've ever witnessed," Todd mumbled under his breath.
"Fuck, you're her? You should have just led with that instead of beating me to a bloody pulp," Carlos glared holding an ice pack to his jaw, which was sporting an ugly looking bruise. His nose had stopped bleeding by now, thank God, it wasn't broken maybe a little tender.
"You're the idiot who didn't want to get the f-"
"Lia," I scolded.
"Ok, ok. I'm sorry I threatened you two tall, sexy......." She trailed off as she scanned Brad and Luka as if she was really seeing them for the first time.
"Lia."
"Men. Right, I'm sorry," she said and they nodded then went back to dishing out breakfast.
She then turned to Carlos, "And I'm sorry for hitting you so hard."
"That's what she's apologising for?" He asked in disbelief, "You shouldn't have hit me in the first place."
Lia glared as she placed her hands on her hips, "You shouldn't have been standing in my way in the first place."
Before he could reply Todd gave him a pat on the back, "Give it a break man. That's all you're going to get."
Carlos huffed and turned his back to her.
Laughing at his childish ways, she perched on the stool beside me with her elbows resting on the counter, "Well, do I not get to know the names of the handsome men that took care of my Me me while I was away?"
"This is Carlos," Todd pointed out while Luka and Brad came with our breakfast, "Luka and Brad."
As Luka passed me my plate his hands brushed against mine causing me to jerk back. Though he continued to pass out breakfast, there was an evident smirk on his face. Blushing, I looked away only to see Lia looking between us with with a puzzled expression then turned to her food.
After Brad and Luka was seated, we begin eating. The food was good but the silence was a bit awkward or maybe it was just me.
"So....you all seem new," Lia looked over at the three who sat opposite to us.
Looks like it wasn't just me.
"Brad is usually by the gate," Todd said, "Not that you'd notice, you're usually too busy shaking the devil of your tail....or so it seems." Although he mumbled the last part we all heard.
I quickly jumped in before they started to take jabs at each other, "Luka came a few days after you disappeared and I hired Carlos a week ago."
"I wouldn't say disappeared. I just forgot to tell you that I was leaving."
"Same difference," I mumbled.
"So Luka huh?" she studied a piece of egg before shoveling it in her mouth completely ignoring me, "How did you get here?" She pointed her fork at Luka.
"I'd explain the birthing process to you but I'm sure you have a general knowledge of the topic."
My hand froze in mid air as I looked at Luka who was eating as if he wasn't about to die. I wasn't the only one who stopped. Todd, Carlos and even Brad paused in mid chew to look at him as if he's grown another head or three. We simultaneously turned to look at Lia who's eyes were narrowed as she studied Luka. Then we looked back at Luka who had calmly settled back in his seat and was now looking at Lia. Jesus, you could feel the air buzzing with intensity. It was like a those rodeo showdown you would see in a western movie. This was how we continued to look between the two until Lia broke out into a grin.
