Aiko's Point of View
"Hello?"
Silence, nothing but silence. I don't know where I am or what I'm doing here, but this place creeps me out. I'm inside of an abandoned warehouse? It was dark outside, I'm sure. I walked around, confused.
"May tao ba diyan?"
Then I heard something. Was that a crying baby? I walked towards a pile of foams. I looked inside of the pile and saw a woman with her baby.
"Shhhh baby, Mommy is here. I promise you, I'll protect you whatever it takes."
I was about to reach out to the woman to see her face, but a loud gun shot echos to my ears.
----------
I woke up with the buzzing sound of my alarm. Geez, my head hurts. Did I have a nightmare? Kahit inaantok pa eh pinilit kong bumangon. Kinapa ko agad ang side table beside my bed for my headphones. I grab my headphones and put it on.
I started scrolling sa Spotify for music. I need something loud dahil ang sakit talaga ng ulo ko. Sige Aiko, puyat pa. I was watching some streams sa twitch kagabi at hindi ko namalayan na umabot ako ng 3:00am.
I played the song titled Demons by Imagine Dragons and started my morning routine.
"It's where my demon hide. It's where my demon hides." I sang with the music. Swaying as I brush my hair. I put down my headphones for a while to take a bath.
----------
"Don't get too close, it's dark inside." I sang as I went down the stairs, heading to the dining area. As I walk, tinitignan ko ang mga pictures namin ni mama na naka sabit.
There is a picture noong 7th birthday ko. A picture of us swimming. My picture noong first day of school ko sa kinder. And a lot more. I stopped in front of a picture that was taken noong family day noong elementary ako. It was just me and my mom.
I don't know who's my dad is. I don't have a picture of him. My mom said he died noong pinag bubuntis pa niya ako. I'm not sad or what. Mom did everything to raise me properly and provide everything I wanted and needed. My mom is a purchasing manager in a restaurant. She works hard for me, for us.
I continued walking again towards the dining area. I saw my mom preparing our breakfast, some ham and bacon. I sat down and began eating while humming the music, I'm still wearing my earphones.
I was about to take another full spoon when I heard my mom shouted "SOPHY! TANGGALIN MO NGA YAN!" I immediately took off my headphones and looked at her.
"Kanina pa ako nag sasalita dito and you are not responding! Since when did I allow gadgets on the dining table?!" She said while holding her mug with coffee.
"Sorry mom, ano po ba iyon?" I said, then turned off my phone.
"I'm asking if you need a ride to your new school. Because you are about to be late." She said then she took a sip of her coffee. I looked at the clock and saw it's about 7:00 am. My class starts at 7:30 am.
"Oh my Galilei! Malalate na ako. " I immediately finished my breakfast and went to our garage to pick up my bike. I ride on my bike and was about to go when I heard my mom calling my name.
"Sophy! Bag mo!" She shouted while waving my blue bag that she bought. She gave me my bag and gave me a kiss on a cheek.
"Good luck, Sophy. Enjoy your first day. Be careful. I love you, always." She said with sincerity in every word. How lucky I am to have her.
"I will mom, and thank you. I love you more." After my words goodbye, I started biking heading to school.
----------
After around 7 minutes of biking, I finally reached the front gate of my new school, Hamelthon Eastern University. As I enter the campus, I can't help myself to be amazed. Magnificent huge buildings, flawless halls, and well trimmed lawn. Para kang nasa isang palace.
I parked my bike sa bike parking area nila malapit sa main gate, then I began walking papunta sa first class ko. I know it is already my last year as a grade 12 student before entering college tapos nag palipat pa ako ng school. Well, I was offered to study here because of my successful academic achievements sa previous school ko. I just took the chance.
Gosh, this school is big! While passing by a garden, I can hear female students screaming, giggling, and bursting out more noises nearby. There was a big pile of them meters away from me. Seriously? Di ba sila malalate? Ano ba meron?
Instead of going there, I would rather continue my walk. I have been walking for minutes, and it's only 5 minutes before 7:30 am. I decided to approach a group of boys wearing shorter neckties, meaning they are Grade 11 students.
"Hi, I'm new here. Can you tell me where the ECG building is?" I asked. Instead of answering me, they are just staring at my face. Oh my Genesis, do I look weird or something? Is my hair messy kasi nag bike lang ako?
"Uhh, excuse me?" I said again, which made them snapped out.
"Ano po, ah, left po kayo after that building. Doon na po." one of the boys said while pointing at a building with maroon pillars near us.
"I see, thank you." I said and continued my walk.
----------
At last! After a long walk! Room 205! This is it, Aiko! You can do this! I entered the room with confidence. Everyone seems to know someone inside the room. I stared walking towards a vacant chair at the second row from the back near the window.
As I walk, students who I walked by started following me with their eyes. Magulo ba talaga buhok ko?! Wala na akong time pumunta sa CR to check Bukas nga hindi na ako mag bibike!
As I sat down, a woman around her 40s entered the room, which made us all stand up properly.
"Good morning, STEM 12-Alpha." She greeted us with dignified posture and delivery.
"Good morning—" before we even finish our greet back, the door slammed open. Making us all look at the 4 guys outside. What now?
