You had always liked Guren Ichinose more than anyone else. Others had pushed him aside, bullied him and beaten him up, but you had always been one of the few people by his side. You had been very good friends with Sayuri and Shigure from the very beginning, too, since they both appreciated you for being kind towards their master. You and Guren had been friends, but never the closest of all, and the more you had grown up, the more distant you had become.

Never had you thought that he would do such things to keep his family alive, but you had been one of the few to see the truth, to see what had happened prior to the apocalypse and what was the cause for it, and it had left you beyond shocked. Of course you understood why he had done it, at least to some degree, but you didn't want to be close with someone who had selfishly killed off almost all of humanity for the mere price of having his friends with him for another ten years.

You couldn't be friends with him after what had happened, even if you would have gladly wanted to.

But what was the weirdest of all, was the fact that Guren seemed to be seeking for your company more and more over the last six years. Especially after he had taken in that orphan boy Yuichiro about two years ago, you often happened to see the two of them training together and even if you had to admit that you were glad to see him opening up to more people, it confused you greatly. It had started off with flowers in your mailbox, even chocolate on Valentine's day, and even if you never questioned who all of these gestures were coming from, you knew. Unfortunately, you had caught him right in the act of putting something into your mailbox once.

But you had never responded to any of his advances as they confused you. You knew that he had been in love with Mahiru Hīragi from the beginning, but his love seemed to have vanished into thin air all of a sudden. Though you didn't know Guren that well, you were afraid that this was a mere game of his. One that was never going to end.

And as if your life didn't hate you enough already, Kureto Hīragi had assigned you leadership over one of the newest squads. Since the Moon Demon Company was only growing on Guren's behalf and the soldiers trained within the same area, it meant that you were seeing him more and more often everyday. It was unsettling to know that he was watching you often, and even if he never said anything, you could see that he was struggling.

But with what he was struggling was a mystery to even yourself.

Whenever it seemed that Guren's actions were becoming more and more strange, he somehow manged to do some more things that caught you off guard anyway. Just like he was standing in front of your door at the moment.

You swallowed thickly upon seeing him standing in front of the door. The only reason why you had even decided to give talking to him a shot was the fact that he was possibly here to talk about tomorrow's training. But no, not at all.

Seeing you actually opening the door, Guren let out a short yet relieved breath that didn't go unnoticed by yourself of course. "(F/N), may I come in? There's some things we need to discuss and it's cold as shit outside", he furrowed his brows in disgust at the thought of the cold.
