It is now lunchtime and by now the entire school is buzzing with rumors about the new girl.As Vicky, Sam, and I make our way down the hall passing all the students putting their things away in their lockers, getting ready for lunch, Sam slams a girls locker shut before the she even takes her backpack off to put away. The girls eyes widen but says nothing as we glide by chuckling.
We just get to our regular table and begin eating lunch when I spot the new girl standing awkwardly scanning the cafeteria once, twice, three times trying to find a place to sit. No, she was looking for someone because I see out of the corner of my eye a hand reach out and give her a wave. She immediately breaks out into a breathtaking smile as she heads in the direction of the hand.
My eyes follow her straining to look over the crowd of people to get a glimpse of who the waving arm was attached to. I craned my neck to the point where I almost lose my balance and fall out of my chair, but without luck I still couldn't see who she sat with. She had already mixed in with the crowd of people so I could no longer see where she went exactly only the vicinity of her path.
I slowly start to stand up with my head still tilted slightly.
Maybe if I stood up I could get a bette-
"What exactly are you doing right now?" Sam said smugly looking me up and down.
"Huh" I say totally lost in my thoughts.
"You have been acting weird all morning. What's your deal?" Sam asked with raised eyebrows. Vicky looked up from her snapchat war she was having with her 'guy pals' and said "Yeah I agree, is it because of Paul? Cause he is a total idiot, you have to get over him. He is just the no feelings attached kinda guy." She then goes back to taking selfies and then retaking selfies.
I narrow my eyes in confusion. "No I don't care about Paul."
I never did.
"I just think everyone is going crazy about the new girl and it is annoying. It's not like she is a movie star, she is from California for good sakes. You are from Florida and no one is flipping out" I say as I nod at Sam.
"Yeah but I moved here when I was one." Sam shakes her head in annoyance.
"Not the same." Vicky chimes in without looking up from her phone.
Just then Paul pulls the chair next to me out and plops himself into it sitting annoyingly close to me. I mentally roll my eyes and prepare myself for the show.
"Hey baby, have you changed your mind about tonight?" He says as he snakes his hand up my thigh.
I wait to answer looking towards the rest of the students in the cafeteria. All of their eyes are fixed on me waiting for my reply.
"Mhhmm." I say whispering softly in is ear. I don't want anyone to hear what I am saying, the rumors are always better when they are made up.
Paul breaks out into a sly grin and says cooly "So I'll see you tonight then." He slide his hand up to my waist and pulls me closer into a deep kiss. Just when I thought he was going to finally go away, he repositions himself in his seat and turns where he can look at all three of us.
And all I can think is,
Don't say it. Don't say it. Don't say it.
"Have you guys seen the new girl. Like holly shit right? She is the hottest girl I have ever seen in real life." I can't help but roll my eyes.
Although Vicky seems more pissed about this than me. Vicky is known to be the hottest girl at Bradner, even over me, so this statement would really hurt her reputation. "She's alright I guess. But she will never be on top unless she was in with us. Right Rae Rae?"
