Grace's POV

After taking a shower, I put on my clothes. I did my hair and applied light makeup. Ethan and I were going to have dinner with John and Ruby.

I went to the living room. When I arrived, Ethan was talking on the phone.

"OK. See you." He said and hung up.

"It was John. They can't come. Angie's nanny has an urgent job. So she couldn't come. Angie doesn't feel good either. She has fever." He informed me.

"Oh. I hope she will get better soon." I said, concerned.

"Yeah." He mumbled. "Now they will take care of a baby instead of having fun. I don't understand why people want a baby so early. They should live their life, travel, have fun without having any responsibility." He commented.

I looked at him, stunned.

Does he really think this way?

We had never talked before about having babies, but actually, I didn't think he thought this way.

"Hey, what happened? Did you get sad because of my words?" He asked softly, giving me a questioning look as he saw my expression.

"Umm... No... Just I didn't think that you don't want children." I mumbled without looking into his eyes.

"Of course, I want to be a father someday, but not now. I think before settling down, you should live your life, having different adventures, seeing the world and so on. Don't you think this way too?" He asked.

I bit my lower lip as I folded my arms over my chest.

"You can live your life when you have children too. They don't hold you back from living your life, archiving your goals. On the contrary, they bring joy, happiness into your life." I resumed honestly.

He raised his eyebrow, surprised. Then the corner of his lips curled up in a smile.

"Oh, my angel is emotional today." He said, amused and approached me.

He wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me into his chest. He placed his hand on my cheek and planted a tender kiss on my forehead.

I forced a smile and leaned my head against his chest. I couldn't help myself and felt upset.

How am I going to tell him about my pregnancy now?

Ethan is young. He plays the field. Don't you think he is serious about you?! Victor Carter's mocking voice replayed in my mind. I shook my head, trying not to think about his words.

"Did I upset you?" Ethan asked, concerned as he cupped my cheeks in his hands.

"No, you didn't." I mumbled. My voice was barely audible.

He gave me a charming smile and placed a soft kiss on my lips.

"Let's not talk about it anymore. Come on, if they can not come, then we will have dinner alone together." He said, giving me a wide smile as he stroked my cheek. I nodded, giving him a slight smile.

Ethan and I talked while having dinner. My expression changed as I heard a familiar voice.

"Ethan." Victor Carter approached us.

"... Grandpa?" Ethan looked at him, confused as he stood up. "Good evening." He greeted him politely.

"Good evening." He greeted Ethan, then gave me an intimidating look. "Good evening, Grace." He said dryly.

"Good evening, sir." I mumbled, avoiding his gaze.

Then he went towards his table where two men were waiting for him.

My mood got worse after Victor Carter's arrival. As much as I didn't look at him, I felt his eyes on me. I felt uneasy under his piercing gaze.

"What happened?" Ethan asked, concerned as he placed his hand on top of mine and squeezed my hand.

"Nothing." I gave him a lazy smile. "Excuse me. I need to use the restroom." I said and stood up.

I placed my hands on the sink counter, breathing deeply. I washed my hands and placed my hands on my neck. I didn't feel well. My head spun slightly.

I grabbed my clutch and left

I grabbed my clutch and left.

I gulped nervously as I saw Victor Carter waiting for me in front of the restroom.

"I think you didn't take my words seriously, but if I was in your place, I would take them seriously. My lawyer is waiting for my order to destroy your father's business." He stated confidently and left after giving me an insolent look.

I leaned against the wall and placed my hand on my stomach as I felt a sharp pain in my stomach. I pursed my lips together in pain.

After the pain passed, I went back.

"Are you okay, sweetheart? You look pale." Ethan asked, worried and stood up as he saw me.

"I am just tired. Could we leave now?" I asked.

"Sure, sweetheart." He nodded and called the waiter.

He parked his car in front of my apartment building. We got out of the car. He held my hand and headed us into the building.

I opened the door and walked in. He held my hand and brought it to his mouth. He placed a soft kiss on my knuckles.

"Sweet dreams, sweetheart." He said, giving me a dazzling smile. He cupped my cheek and planted a chaste kiss on my lips.

I gave him a warm smile and stroked his cheek affectionately.

When he wanted to leave, I grabbed his arm, stopping him. He gave me an inquiring look.

"I love you, Ethan. Don't forget it." I said, looking into his eyes as I held his hand.

He gave me his charming smile, melting my heart.

How can I live without seeing this smile?

"I love you, too, baby." He cupped my cheeks and kissed my lips tenderly. "My beautiful and sensitive girl." He said softly, looking into my eyes, full of affection and love in his eyes. Then he wrapped his arms around me, pulling me into his chest. I wrapped my arms around his waist and rested my head against his chest, breathing in his musky scent. He placed a soft kiss on my hair as he tightened his grip around me.

After staying in each other's arms for a while, he pulled back.

"Now, go and rest, my girl." He said softly and tapped my nose playfully. "See me in your dreams." He added and planted a soft kiss on my lips.

"Bye." I muttered.
