Jorel hadn't realised that he had been staring at the demon king until the hiss of his mate snapped him back to the present.
"Care to explain why you were staring at my man with starstruck eyes?" Perez hissed.
"I...uh...I was daydreaming...I didn't mean to uh...stare," Jorel lied as he bit his bottom lip.
"Bullshit! You clearly want him. It's that soul of your's. It's making causing you to have feelings that demons don't have. Maybe Lucy should take it back," Perez snapped at Jorel.
Jorel expected the demon king to scold Perez for using the demon king's nickname, but he quickly remembered that Perez was allowed to call the demon king by his nickname without punishment. Jorel looked up at the demon king and felt his body tingle when his gaze locked with the demon king's molten red eyes.
"I'm sorry for causing so much trouble sir. I'm not used to these feelings and I'm trying to get them under control. Please just give me some time," Jorel begged.
Perez went to give a reply, but the demon kinsag cut him off by saying,"I'm not going to take your soul Jorel. Perez needs to learn to be silent when his input isn't needed. The feelings Jorel is having are normal for demons who first get their soul back. Feeling emotions again takes some time to get used to when you've been without them for years."
"He's showing signs of love Lucy. Demons aren't supposed to feel love," Perez said, not realising the mistake he just made.
"If that's what you think then we are no longer mates," The demon king said in a calm tone.
"W-what? How does stating my opinion cause us to no longer be mates?" Perez asked.
"May I explain it to him sir?" Jorel butted in.
"You may tell him," The demon king replied with a smirk.
"You see Perez, your opinion was that demons aren't supposed to feel love. Then that means you don't love the king like a true mate is supposed to. The king has his soul and he loved you, and you have your soul as well so you should feel love towards your mate," Jorel explained to Perez.
Jorel watched Perez's face turn pale as the realisation hit him. It took a lot of effort for Jorel not to laugh at Perez. Then it hit Jorel that what he had said to Perez was true and he frowned. 'If he didn't truly love the king then why become his mate at all?' Jorel asked himself.
"Jorel, come here," The demon king commanded.
Jorel quickly walked to the demon king's throne and stood on the right side of the throne when he was told to.
"Jorel if you were to become my mate, what would you want from me?" The demon king asked.
Jorel felt his cheeks start to burn as he replied,"I...I would...want your love sir."
   "Elaborate," The demon king said.
"I...I would want your affection and your loyalty.I would...want you to make me feel loved, cared for, and safe. It wouldn't take anything more than...kissing me and holding me close when ever you could to make me feel those things," Jorel explained.
"Now Perez what did you always want from me?" The demon king asked his former mate.
Perez didn't respond to him he just stared at his feet.
"You always wanted to get into my pants. That's all you wanted from me. That's not a mate Perez, and it disgust me that I ever thought of you as my mate. Get out of my throne room, and never come around me again," The demon king growled.
   "Lucifer I-" Perez started.
"I said get out," Lucifer hissed.
"Its his fault!" Perez screamed and leaped towards Jorel.
Lucifer snarled and smoke poured out of his mouth. It quickly found its target, and Perez fell to the ground. Perez gagged and clawed at his throat as the black smoke filled his mouth and nose.
Jorel watched as Lucifer continued to breathe out more smoke until Jorel was sure that Perez would suffocate. Jorel jumped slightly when Perez suddenly started coughing and wheezing. He looked at Perez and was rather surprised to see him scrambling to his feet. He watched Perez run out of the throne room and he released a breath he wasn't aware that he was holding.
"Come sit Jorel," Lucifer said in a calm tone.
"I-in your lap sir?" Jorel asked with a blush.
"Yes. Don't worry I'm not going to hurt you. I want to test something," Lucifer replied.
"Y-yes sir," Jorel said as he walked to the front of the throne.
Jorel then sat on Lucifer's thighs his cheeks a bright shade of pink. He felt a hand lightly pushing on his stomach, forcing him to lean back until his shoulders were against Lucifer's chest.
"Relax Jorel I'm not going to hurt you," Lucifer purred to him.
Jorel took a deep breath to calm himself, but found himself already relaxing as he breathed in Lucifer's scent. Something in his soul pulled at him to nuzzle against Lucifer, but he stopped his body from completing this task.
"Tell me what you feel when I do this," Lucifer said before he ghosted his hands over Jorel's hands.
Jorel had to hold in a hiss of surprise as he felt jolts of electricity run up his arms.
"I-it felt like I was shocked," Jorel told Lucifer.
Jorel jumped when he felt Lucifer's breath against his neck. It took all of Jorel's will-power to keep himself from tilting his head to the side which would've exposed his neck.
"I-I uh...I'm not sure what I felt, but it took all of my will-power to not tilt my head so my neck was exposed," Jorel said to Lucifer.
Lucifer nodded when Jorel told him this. He had one more test to try on Jorel. He moved his head so his mouth was next to Jorel's ear. He waited a moment before he let out a deep and rumbling growl.
Jorel's eyes widened at the growl as he felt his entire body weaken and go limp. He couldn't stop the whine that left his lips as he looked up at Lucifer. When he finally regained his composure Jorel said,"I-I have no clue what any of that was."
Lucifer had a huge smile on his face as he replied with,"That was a mate reaction Jorel. A demon will only go completely limp like that when they completely trust their mate."
   "O-oh," Jorel squeaked out.
"Jorel..." Lucifer said, looking down at Jorel's arm.
"Sir?" Jorel asked, looking down at his arm as well.
Jorel gasped when he saw a bright crimson mark on his wrist. Jorel blushed darkly when he noticed that Lucifer had the same color mark on his wrist. Jorel slowly looked up and his eyes locked with Lucifer's eyes. Nothing needed to be said between the two. They both knew what the matching marks meant. They were soul mates.
