(Y/A) stands for "your age".

The girl walks home, and when she arrived, she lazily throws her umbrella to the corner of the room. You pull out a chair, and you eye the supper you had left there from before. A small salad with croutons and some milk. It wasn't much to live off of, but you could get by. Despite being (y/a), you could take care of yourself. You knew little skills, but very helpful ones. You picked up the fork next to the bowl of salad and began eating. The rain kept tapping onto the window, which frankly startled you slightly. Some more thunder was heard, and by now it wasn't as scary as before. After you had finished your food, you left the dishes there, you could just clean it up any time later. Hearing a tap at the door, you push in the chair. You couldn't leave the person waiting, and it must have been important. It was relatively hard to decide what to do after you heard the loud knock. It might be a robber, or someone important.
