Seiteki Shinzo lazily drops her backpack at the door, groaning as she steps inside her home from a lousy day of high school. Her friend, Chusei Kaiteki sighs as she smiles softly, gripping the straps of her own backpack tightly as the two began to walk upstairs. "Afternoon, Ms. Shinzo.", the young girl greets Seiteki's mother.
The redheaded woman grinned at the two, continuing her cooking. "Hey, you two. How was school?"
"Totally draining...", Seiteki replied slowly walking up the stairs with Chusei close behind her.
Her mother smirks at the response, "It's always been that way with you, Seiteki." She then returns her focus on Chusei, her abnormal brown eyes glistening in the orange kitchen light above her. "How about you, Kaiteki? Anything fun happens for you today?"
Chusei glances at her friend before returning her attention back to Ms. Shinzo. "I-It was fine. Nothing really special happened today." Her small smile made it clear that she wasn't all for speaking. At least not with Seiteki's mother.
"Don't pester Kaiteki, Mom.", Seiteki interfered with their conversation. "I can't be havin' you bore all my friends." With a slight yawn, the spiky-haired girl stretches as they reach the last step. "We'll be in my room if you need us.", she told her mother, her white door clashing with the soft reds around it.
"Alright. Don't do anything I wouldn't."
The two enter the room after her reply, Seiteki sighing in relief when her weak body hit her fluffy-like bed on impact. "God, I missed this."
Kaiteki snorts at her friend, seating herself at Shinzo's computer desk. "You always say that when we get home, Shinzo."
"And? So long as I'm back in my bed, I can care less." She wraps herself in her yellow blanket, sighing in relief. "Besides, you know I hate going to school in the winter."
Unbeknownst to her, Kaiteki was already finishing up the homework both girls were supposed to be doing. "That's how it is, silly.", the wavy-haired girl jokes, "Always will be for the rest of our lives."
Shinzo groans at her friend's response, "Argh, I know that, idiot." She then smiles whilst staring at the ceiling above her. The painted golden stars felt like they could drip at any moment, Seiteki almost tasting memories of the past. She soon shook off these memories, looking towards her cute friend. "Hey, Kaiteki.", she started to say as she played with her gray hair.
"Yes, 'Zo?"
"What do you dream of?"
The question caught Chusei off guard, turning around to face Seiteki. Nibbling on her pencil she struggled to think of an answer much to her annoyance. "I don't know", she spat out in a bit of shame, blushing softly at her words. "I guess a singer or dancer, maybe even an officer if I could. Why, what's up?" Chusei enhanced her focus on the spiky-haired girl in front of her. "Aren't you supposed to be studying instead of asking something like this?"
Shinzo pouted behind her pillow, "You're no fun, cutie. I don't care about all that stuff. You know that already, Chu."
Chusei continues her stern look, tossing a textbook her way. "But you NEED to know about all this 'stuff'. I'll even help you out—"
Seiteki lit up like the Christmas tree her parents set up downstairs. "Really?!" She asked with starry eyes and a bright smile.
With a small snort, the brunette smiled as she went over to Shinzo. "Sure, dummy. Scoot over."
X.1.X.
"Ugh!!!" Groans a frustrated Seiteki as her head bangs on top of her homework . "Why does math, of all things, have to be the thing I'm bad at?!"
Chusei chuckles at her friend's antics, scribbling equations on a separate piece of paper. "It's not as difficult as you think, Shinzo."
"And what makes you so sure about that, straight-A student?"
"That's exactly the point, dummy. You have to keep your brain exercised like those muscles of yours.", the studious young woman giggles at her friend's response. "How do you think I got that way?"
Seiteki lifts her head up slightly, still in the comfort of her folded arms as an unenthusiastic expression growing on her face. "I don't know, damnit! You're parents probably forced you to do all this crap!" She finally spat out in anger, sighing with disappointment once she realized her mistake. Her eyes sink as she turns to Kaiteki, instantly noticing her best friend's now stoic look. "I...I'm sorry, Kai.", Shinzo stutters out an apology. "I didn't mean to explode on you like that. You know I—" The spiky-haired girl's voice broke off while omnipresent silence crept it's way into the room, creating an abnormal atmosphere of fear, sadness and uncertainty.
Chusei didn't have any words for Shinzo's anger, but she just smiled. "I'm not mad, dummy. It was in bad taste, sure, but most of your jokes are almost always terrible anyway." Ruffling her grey hair, Chusei hugs Seiteki, her warmth overflowing the two. "So don't down yourself, alright?"
The grey-haired girl smiles at her friend, "Okay, Chu." Just then an idea popped up into the teenager's young mind, anxiously grabbing her laptop as it slid over to the duo. "I know! How about we take a break and watch some gaming videos?", she excitedly asks despite their current situation.
"You know that's entirely the opposite of what you're supposed to be doing, right?"
"What's the difference? I fail at both games and math, but at least I'm learning about something in the end, right?", Shinzo replies with a dopey grin. "That's what I like to think, anyway."
Sighing softly, Kaiteki smiles at her enthusiastic friend. "Screw it. It was getting painfully boring anyway.", the blue-haired girl says in agreement. "And you're not bad at video games. You're pretty great at them, honestly."
"Eh, whatever.", Seiteki tells her in a playful tone. "Keep your flattery after I get done kicking your ass in Mortal Souls 3."
