The first day back was over.
Tomorrow loomed over the evening, as Rhys slumped into a chair and opened his laptop. "Three essays, two presentations, and a fact file on leaves - all in the first day." He flicked his eyes up to Azriel, who leaned against the doorway to the living room. "I don't even particularly want to know about leaves, to be honest. I have better things to be doing."
"Like finding the new girl you were watching all day on social media?" Of course his newfound like for Feyre hadn't gotten past Azriel. Nothing ever got past Azriel.
There was no point in denying it. "Exactly."
Mor strode through the room, heading for the conservatory at the back of the house, with her phone and a book in her hand. "She's definitely going to go for Tamlin, you know. You're an ice cold prick at school, Rhysand."
Rhys flicked her the finger, despite the fact that she was right. They all had to be ice cold pricks at school -for the sake of the social dynamics, their futures, and their secrets. Nobody could know where they lived, how they lived, who they lived with. And so the masks remained on, the lies remained intact, and the secrets lay buried.
Rhys's laptop pinged. "Huh. The devil just emailed me," He announced to the room.
"What does the bitch want then?" Cassian groaned.
Rhysand's eyes skimmed the lines of text. And then he read it again. Three times. His breath caught in his throat.
"I have to go." Cassian made to get up and follow him. "No - no. I'm going alone. What I need to do - I have to do this alone." The door clicked shut before any of the others could react.
Azriel already had Rhys's laptop in his hands and was trying to get into his emails.
"Should we be worried you know his password?" Cassian peered over Azriel's shoulder.
"No. I know everyone's passwords. Back of, Cassian." Azriel looked to where Mor emerged from the conservatory, a slightly worried expression sat on her perfect features. "You might want to hear this." He read out the email.
To all,
I am holding a meeting for all of the prefects in the school. If you do not attend, immediate action will be taken regarding your social status and welfare.
I shall see you all at 1700 sharp, in the location previously mentioned to you.
Amarantha.

When Azriel finished, the whole room echoed with the same word.
"FUCK."
