Waking up to the familiar salt breeze wafting into your tranquil room was almost routine. Sitting up with a stretch, you faced your open window with a sleepy smile and swung your legs off your bed then walking over to your balcony. Elbows placed on the balcony ledge, you looked out to the sea glistening in all its glory, slowly swaying and bobbing in rhythm to the breeze. The sky was a deep blue and clear from any clouds, 'no storms today' you thought to yourself.
Knock, knock, knock...
"Come in." you chimed, turning around to walk back into your room. Your maid, Abigaile, walked in swiftly with a silver tray of breakfast in hands. "I brought your breakfast milady." She stated while placing the tray of food at the foot of my bed then slightly bowing. Frowning slightly and crossing your arms, you looked at her as she moved around to tidy your bed. "Didn't I tell you to drop formalities when we're alone Abby? We are basically sisters." You sighed slightly while you made this comment.
Abby has been my maid since my Mother disappeared and took care of me when my Father was too busy to even look at me. But don't get confused, he still loves me dearly.
Once Abby had prepared my bed and made it look presentable again, she turned around and lightly dipped her head down. "I apologise for my inconsideration Miss (Y/N). Your Father told me to remind you of today's duties. Your Literature teacher is waiting for you in the West Wing study. Later today you also be having an artist come here to paint your portrait to hang on the family wall along side your Father's." After she finished her list to me, she pulled out a rusted old pocket watch and told me I have 10 minutes to prepare myself.
Rubbing my temples from arising stress, I walked over to my vanity and sat down. I ushered for Abby to come here with my silver hairbrush to brush my hair. She walked over with a small smile and gently took the brush from my hand, delicately running the fine bristles through my soft hair. There was a comfortable pause before Abby spoke. "Are you going to try convince him today as well?" she questioned. I stared at her through the vanity mirror and smirked a little, "Who do you think I am, of course I will!" I stated '...and hopefully accept this time.' Shortly after Abby had finished brushing my hair, there was another knock at my door.
"Come in." You called to the other behind the door. The door was opened by the butler George holding a scroll of paper. "Young mistress (Y/N), your Father has summoned you immediately to his study. He wishes to discuss a few important matters to his only heir." He informed. Loosening my shoulders I didn't know were tense, I stood up from my vanity stool and signalled Abby to prepare my clothes. "Thank you George. Tell my Father I will be there shortly." I said. "Of course Milady." George replied and with that he slightly bowed and walked out of my room.

After getting myself washed and dressed, I swiftly made my way to my Fathers study. Knocking gently on the mahogany door and taking a deep breath filled me with determination for one last time. "Enter." my Father's stern voice called from the other side. Walking in, I see my Father surrounded by mountains upon mountains of paper, spilled ink on his scarlet carpet and golden curtains tightly pulled back to allow the morning light to flood in the room. "You wished to speak with me Father?" I questioned confidently.
Sir Luka De Escaban, my Father was a man of many talents with an ashen grey stubble growing across his face due to long, sleepless nights. He wore circle glasses and had raven coloured hair, with the few unfortunate strands of white. Clearly his name was the epitome of a Spanish immigrant, however his skills in his job were not to be underestimated. He is the head of the Queen's National Trading Company/business, the main reason that relations between countries have been calm and preventing a raging war from breaking. And as he is a personal friend of the Queen, his position and status in society was irreplaceable.
"Yes deary, and I suppose you have something to say?" He questioned while scribbling something on a letter. He then folded the letter, poured red wax on it and stamped his brand logo on it. Looking up and interlinking his hands together, he looked at me expectantly. "Yes Father, and I'm sure you know what I am going to say. But please, please, pleaseee can I join you this once on your trade? I'm the only heir and this will be a good opportunity to learn how you do your job!" I begged, desperate to escape my studies and see more that just my lonely and boring part of the world.
I always loved the vast outside, especially the sea and its many mysteries, I also loved to read books about exciting adventures and dangerous monsters the characters encountered on their journeys. They were my escape from my plain reality.
I looked at my father, hopeful and determined to get my way. He stared deep into my eyes for a moment and then sighed in defeat. "I suppose 1 trip with me won't hurt. Luckily, my next trip is only a one round trip lasting a few days. We leave in 8 minutes so I suggest you pack immediately." Once he said this my heart jumped through the roof. A large grin plastered across my face and eyes instantly lit up. I ran straight to my Father and hugged him tightly. "Thank you, thank you soooo much!!" I squealed, scurrying to my room to pack.
Reaching my room, I burst through my door to meet a startled Abby, happily grinning at me and a few packed bags in hands. "That was quick! How did you know?" I exclaimed in astonishment. She gave me a cheeky smile and said nothing. None the less, I gave her a quick hug and thanked her for packing for me then walked over to my closet to gather my red long coat and black heeled boots I usually wear at outings. "So, why did you pack me so many bags?" gesturing to said luggage in her hands. "One is yours and the other, is mine." Abby stated excitedly. My eyes widened in delight, "You're coming with me!?" I exclaimed and she nodded, telling me how George asked her to pack for the both of us while I was talking with my Father. She also mentioned that she is coming as my Father didn't want me to be alone as the only female on a ship with only men on board. Completely understandable.
Knock, knock...
"Milady (Y/N), your father is waiting in the carriage at the front gates and wishes to leave early." I heard George say. 'Time to go then' I thought, internally screaming with excitement. I opened my door and carried my bad in one hand, me and Abby making our way to the carriage. Passing several bowing maids and butlers, we walked outside the two large main doors, struggled down a few steps and climbed into the carriage, Abby sitting next to the escort outside.

After hours of passing through the cobblestone roads, we made our way to the docks where my Fathers large trade ship awaited our arrival. With Abby collecting the bags, the escort took the open role of opening the carriage door and assisted me to the ground. Thanking him quickly, I spun my body round to look at the ship. Huge. That was the only word I could describe it as. My eyes stared at the ship in awe as it swayed regularly above the gentle waves. "This... is the ship!?" I asked my Father in denial. He responded with a nod and a proud hum. "Now then girls, shall we get on board then?" He asked and I immediately obliged. Me, Abby and my Father climbed up the stairs leading to the ship, and once on board, we set sail.
