Healing

takes

time.

But what if someone can't heal? What if they shatter into pieces too small to repair?

Chan's life was deteriorating quickly. Instead of smiles from friends, he got glares and people moving out the way so they wouldn't touch him. Instead of friends, all he got was backstabbing jerks who called him slurs.

So, he dropped college. It's not like he was in a giant nice school or anything, just a small community college near his old home. But apparently, no one really knew how to react to something of the sorts.

Chan had a schedule of sorts. Wake up, cry, shower, and sleep. He'd lost his appetite after all that had happened and hadn't eaten a decent meal in over a week. Chan really did appreciate his Dad's friends from work letting them into their home, so he'd put a big smile on his face at first. It's not like it was real though, and his dad knew it.

He'd try to come in, try to check up on Chan, try to see how he could help, but he never responded. He just sat in the corner of the small room and cried.

After a week and a half of crying and not eating, his dad was more than done of letting his son mope. He barged into his room and shook him awake. Chan looked up at his dad, eyes red and puffy, and curled into a ball in the corner.

"We're going to see Mom. C'mon, Chan." Chan didn't move, it was more comfortable sitting there feeling bad for himself. Chan was pulled up out his position and frowned.

"I really don't see the point, Dad. She hates me now, remember?" He said quietly before looking down.

"That's stupid. She still loves you, she's just a bit, well, conflicted at the moment." Chan's father pulled his son into a tight hug. They stood there for what seemed like forever, Chan sobbing into his father's shoulder and his father rubbing gentle circles on his back.

Chan sat in the car, looking out the window as his father drove to their former home. He didn't think he had any more tears to shed. He simply felt empty at this point. At least his father still loved him. Chan sighed, running a hand through his messy hair.

"Almost there."His dad whispered. Chan glanced over at him for a moment and noticed the dark rings under his eyes.  It seemed that he wasn't the only one taking this hard. The two pulled up in the familiar driveway, and slowly got out of the car.

Chan looked over at his father and offered him a smile. He smiled back.

"Hey, Chan. I'm sorry that things had to turn out like this, but just know that I'll always love you." Chan's father began walking to the door, and Chan followed. As his father reached to knock on the door, it was flung open, causing the two to jump back.

Behind it was Chan's mother, pointing a gun at them.

"And then, Mr. Park decided to give me detention because I tried to explain why I couldn't finish my homework! It's so stupid. Sorry I was late, Chan hyung."  Jeongin walked in the room, projecting his voice so Chan was able to hear him.
