"Hey we're here" I glanced up at Carlton when he finished speaking and nodded my head at him. We all headed over to the dull, blue train door - holding on tight to Gizmo.

The doors moaned begrudgingly as they opened ,and we all hopped onto the platform. The platform stretched out like an elastic band and had a view of the Central - I was expecting it to be as broken as the lost city but it was quite different to what the mind would think.

"Woah" Jax murmed as he leaned over the platform to look over the view. I matched his gaze a raised my eyebrows hastly and stepped closer to the paint-chipped fence - making a barrier to the platform.

Harrowing Central was the opposite of what it seemed like- frankly it looked like a Utopian. Although it had only been three years, vines and moss oozed over skyscrapers; scaling up slowly up like lush seaweed in an underwater current. The buildings where white like snow - which had started to turn to sludge - and windows where blue, but dirty from dust.

Yeah: from close perspection this place is only slightly better than others. I guess I forgot what it looked like out of trauma from last time.

"Why is it better tended to than others? I mean most of the windows aren't even cracked!" I asked to the group - mostly to Carlton as older may still equal wiser.

"Well," He grunted with the air from his nose
"My guess is that, Central used to be on top of an eco-system. And with no one to tend to it, it will be overgrown with plants... also it's the Stygians prime base, so they try to keep it 'clean' " He dragged out the last word as my eyes drifted towards bullets dashing up into the sky like fireworks off into the far distance - colours of dawn trying to disguise it. Gizmo purred as he cozied up to my knees.

"Well we better get moving" Jax broke the silence - he looked up at Carlton as he spoke.

"So..." I looked up at Jax as we swiftly walked through a thin alleyway
"How did you and Carlton meet?"
Jax smirked
"Well, 16 years ago, I was being pushed out into the world. Carlton grabbed me and said 'well he's mine now!' And ran... to give it to my mother". I giggled quietly which softly echoed in the alleyway and nudged Jax with my shoulder.

He had short black, curls with a faint diamond-shaped face and blue eyes. He a tad was taller than me... okay maybe a little more and always walked as if he owned the place - it's quite prominent - don't judge me.

I centered my view up ahead to see Carlton walking up a head keeping watch like a panther. I looked back up at Jax and hesitantly stuttered

"Listen... I'm really sorry that I almost killed you last time. I wish I could just say the devil possessed me at that moment but he didn't - I just went sicko mode" Swallowing my pride wasn't easy, but the guilt of ignoring the elephant in the room was killing me.
"Oh, it's fine. I almost killed you - we good" his voice raised in a joking manner and I already felt much better.

"So son," he caught my eye "K-kyra, we're going on our first heist together." He pointed proudly at a store in the distance. Gizmo, who had been trailing quietly behind us, briskly walked in front of Carlton and mewed. I looked up at our target and saw a ware-house with a "bits and bobs" sign slapped on the front.

"We still gotta be careful- we're walking across an empty car park and anyone could snipe at us." I pointed out
"Well, walking or running we are getting to that store" Jax said mischieviously before commencing a suicide run.
Gizmo looked back at me before joining Jax - lucky cunt probably had nine lives.
"Jax get the fu-frick back here" his dad stammered. My eyes dialated in panic: One human target running along would be easy to catch, and I can't have Jax, more importantly Gizmo, getting hurt. Despite all my instincts, I ran, sprinting too.

Shit, it felt exuberating, it felt like going down a zip wire: scared shitless at the beginning and zipping wild and free later. I almost forgot I was in a place commonly described as harrowing - or in a war.

The wind howled wildly in support as I rushed across the uneven terrain. Soon enough, a little ball of fluff, Jax, me ... and Carlton eventually made it to the other the store. Carlton was too angry to even speak - we all headed inside without a word.

The door was easily wedged open with a 'trusty crowbar' as Carlton called it and we all headed in side. I felt lucky that this wasn't the zombie apocalypse, because any humans inside would soon enough leave this place, not attack us on instant or any other zombie stuff ... real lucky.

Carlton muttered something to Jax coldly before heading over in another direction beckoning me to follow him.

This place had boxes in bulk, so we had to rip them open to get the goods inside - the satisfying rip felt like a tearing open people's chest.
We stocked up on canned food and water, it was pretty silent while Gizmo lounged across shelfs, but Carlton abruptly broke it.

"What was he thinking?" He yelled, slamming his fist on a metal shelf.
"Does he think this is all a joke? I don't understand... I thought he would've learnt about what happened last time with Maur-" He looked at me before dropping the subject.

"I gotta go get some other things..." I awkwardly edged towards the feminine products towards the pharmacy corner of the big warehouse.

There were boxes on boxes of pads and tampons, I gratefully opened up the box, this one was louder than usual... I ignored it. But as I grabbed a handful of pads, I heard boxes topple down.

Followed by a gunshot.

A/N:

Ok, ok I get this chapter isn't as action packed as my other chapter, but I really wanted you readers (>:3) to know more about Jax and Carlton with their relation ship and stuff. Alsoooo, who 'dis 'Maur-' Carlton was talking about?

Hmmm?

Also who was the clumsy doof who knocked over the boxes?
