 Chapter One:

 Maisies POV

You know that feeling you get when you are nervous? The butterflies in your stomach, the wondering of how things will go and what will happen. Well right now this feeling was coming on strong. In just one hour I would be walking through my new schools gates. Not knowing anyone. I was going into what would have been my 6th year. If only I didn't have parents that wanted to achieve as much as they could in life. So here I was getting ready to go to my third school in six years. But before I actually snap out of this weirdo explaining thing I've got going on let me explain just a little bit more.

'Maisie! Come down here for a minute, please.' called my mother, Alice.

'Sure, give me a minute!' I shouted back.

I guess I was about to find out why my mum and dad had been acting funny recently. They had been taking me and my baby brother, James out everywhere. Out to the park, the aquarium, the zoo... These were mainly for my brother though as I was already 16 and therefore wasn't really into this kind of stuff.

I thumped down the stairs and found them sitting rather formally in the sitting room. They motioned for me to come and sit in the soft cushiony arm chair. I did as was asked and turned towards them with a curious but confused look on my face.

'Honey, we have some news for you,' stated my mother, calmly.

They both looked at each other, agreeing on something  through telepathy or something weird, they usually did things like that, like they could read your mind, and my dad turned back to look at me.

'I've been offered a promotion as the boss at the Belfast firm, and we have to leave London.'

What?!? Leave London? How could they? They knew that I had finally settled down here, made friends, had a great boyfriend and now they were just going to take it away from me? I took a deep breath and closed my eyes. When I opened them again I saw a concerned look on my parents face.

'So, Belfast... As in Northern Ireland, right?' I questioned.

'Yes, it isn't the best of places to go to but some parts are very nice, you can get a bus into town and they have a great shopping centre, and Charis lives there now, remember!' reasoned my mother.

Charis, pronounced with a K, had been my best friend, but her mum and dad, like mine, had moved away to Northern Ireland. I missed her like crazy and missed her so much, we had known each other since forever. Thinking about her upset me though.

'What school have you picked out for me to go to?' I wondered, changing the subject.

'It's a lovely school, just had a new building built and everything! It's called Green Vale Grammar School!' beamed my mother.

'Sure, sure. When are we moving?'

You may be thinking that I was taking this rather well but to be honest, I was good at pretending. I had moved five times, picked up and left everything behind. As I said before, this had occurred three times in the past six years. I was used to the heart ache of it all.

My dad hesitated before saying, 'One month.'

This was nothing really, the second time we moved, they had only given me a weeks notice, I had been angry then.
