The taste of blood was all I could feel, and I realized it was because I was biting the inside of my cheek so damn hard. Who could have had access to that footage?
Yes, the security guard, but they wouldn't have pulled the tapes unless something bad happened like a robbery or a fire- or an anonymous tip. I could almost bet one of my fingers to who it was.
Cautiously, I peeked my head up, looking around the office to see if I could find anyone or anything suspicious. Everyone seemed to be minding their own business, taking phone calls and chatting amongst their groups.
Causing a scene would be an utter disaster, for it seemed as if I was the only one who knew so far. Almost as if on cue, I heard that familiar swinging of the door and my eyes darted to it, instantly meeting with a panicked Brent. He definitely got the email also.
I held my breath as I stood up, exiting out of the tab on my computer and going into his office, shutting the door behind him. Instantly, I felt unstable and weary, my body collapsing under pressure. Brent and I knew exactly what this meant.
Someone wanted revenge on the both of us, and they were willing to do anything to get back at us, but why? Jealousy? It had to be Sabrina.
I may have mistaken her for a stupid bimbo, but looks like she really found a way to scare the daylights out of us both. No, no! There's no way she could have pulled something like this off, at least not by herself.
The fear set in after the adrenaline died out, and all I could do was put my head in my hands, thinking of how I was going to support myself after I was fired. Of course, Brent wouldn't be fired, he would probably be given a slap on the hand, but he was at the top of the totem pole.
"Hey, hey." I felt his arms wrap around me, pulling me off of the floor and to his chest. "It's going to be okay."
"No, no it won't be," I sniffled, my body trembling and sweaty from worry. This was the last time I was going to see him, and I'm sure HR would be busting in here at any moment. "I'm going to get fired."
"I won't let that happen."
"There are some things you can't avoid Brent," I frowned, taking the napkin that he was offering to me and wiping underneath my eyes, smearing my foundation. There was a company policy, and he couldn't go around changing his father's plans. "Maybe we're better off apart."
"No, don't say that," he said, his voice filled with worry, his touch expressing it even more as he put his hands on my waist, squeezing it lightly. "There's going to be a way to fix it."
"Should I just go ahead and quit? I think that would be best for both of us." I separated from him, but he grabbed my hand and pulled me towards him, our lips crashing against one another. They were so soft and hungry, and I could tell he was frustrated by his breaths.
"Leave now, and come to my house, tonight. My wife won't be there, she's gone." So she really just took her share of his money and ran with it? Guess so.
