" Violet! Violet!" Klaus shouted. As soon as he saw the spyglass, he had ran out of the library, through the swinging door that led to the backyard, and found himself pounding furiously on the shed door. " Violet! Open the door!" Klaus shouted. Violet, who was in the shed with a pair of safety goggles on, heard the pounding and ran to open the door.

"Klaus! what's wrong?" Violet exclaimed, shutting the shed door behind her.

" Violet, you have to come! quickly!" And with that, he took Violet by the hand, and led her to the library, where the spyglass was being kept in its glass case. " It's the spyglass. The exact same one that dad had in his desk. Uncle. Monte had one attached to his belt, and now Aunt. Coraline."

"Klaus, they were investigating fires, that's all" Violet said, with a shrug.

" Violet no. You have to listen to me! There's a reason that they all have this spyglass, it's not just because they were investigating fires. There's another reason to this, and your gonna help me found out what it is!"

" But Klaus-" They were interrupted by a shriek coming from the book shelf nearest to them. Sunny was pulling books off the shelf, and a certain picture had fallen out of an old scrapbook. Klaus went to pick it up.

"Hey, it's that picture that Aunt. Josephine had in her scrapbook!" Klaus said. He looked at Violet and smirked. The picture was of a group of adults all with the same spyglass in their pocket. The picture also included Uncle. Monte, Aunt. Josephine and Ike, Aunt. Coraline with another man, and... their parents. The children sighed as they came upon the faces of their beloved parents. Violet and Klaus looked at each other, and back at the picture, and then to the spyglass. " Good job Sunny!" Klaus smiled, and ruffled Sunny's hair. She laughed. Then, he turned back to Violet. " I told you there was something going on, and your going to help me found out what it is!" Klaus happily said. A smile spread across Violets face.

"Leave that to me" She said, with a smile as she pulled her long hair up in a ribbon. Klaus and Sunny looked at each other, and then at Violet. And they smiled.

That night, after dinner was served, the children and their new guardian sat in the living room in front of the fireplace and began to chat. Then, they heard the door open and a mans voice belt out: " Coraline!, I'm home!" and following the voice, came in a tall, buff looking man with a head full of hair, and a scratchy beard. His brown eyes twinkled and a big smile spread across his face as he saw the children. " My, my!" He bellowed, as he took large steps into the living room. " Well, if it isn't the Baudelaire's!" He smiled, and went to greet the children with hugs, and a big smile. He took Sunny up into his arms, and swung her around. Then placed her down back In between Violet and Klaus.

" Children! oh forgive me, I've forgotten to tell you about my husband!" She said with a smile, as she went to embrace her husband. " This is your Uncle. Jack!" The man smiled his big smile, and bowed his head to the children, and they smiled back at him. For once, they felt safe. At home, and loved. Violet was so happy to feel at home again, she wanted to burst into tears. Uncle. Jack worked at the post office from 9-7, and usually came home after dark. He sat down beside Aunt. Coraline on the couch opposite the children, and began to tell them of his stories from the post office. Klaus thought it a good time to bring up the topic of the spyglass, so he cleared his through, and everyone looked at him..

So Klaus asked about the spyglass, and about them investigating fires. Uncle. Jack and Aunt. Coraline looked at each other

" "Well son..." Uncle. Jack began. He explained about the club that their parents, Uncle. Monte, Aunt. Josephine and Ike, and Aunt. Coraline and himself and a couple of other friends were in. About their many adventures, and the antiques in the glass cases. It was true, they were investigating fires. Count. Olaf was jealous that he was not included in the club, so he burned Uncle. Montes house, and soon burned the Baudelaire's mansion so he could have their money. The spyglass was a token of the club, handed out by their father. " I know your parents didn't want you to know of this till you came of age, but I'm sure you understand now. And that's why everyone moved so far away. No one wanted to lose their family, or home.

"Alright children, time for bed!" Aunt. Coraline scooped up Sunny, and made her way to words the stairs. Violet and Klaus followed behind, in awe of the story. After bathing, the children climbed into their beds. Sunny had her own crib in the corner of the room, where Aunt. Coraline put her down to sleep. " Good night children!" Aunt. Coraline shut the light and closed the door. The children exchanged good nights, and began to fall asleep. They were awoken by shouting coming from downstairs.

" It was in their will never to tell the children until they come of age!" Aunt. Coraline wailed

" Their mature enough! I think they cam understand the past life of their parents!" Uncle. Jack bellowed. Sunny began to cry, so Violet rushed to her crib, trying to comfort her.

" You shouldn't have asked, Klaus! " Violet hissed at her brother. Klaus pretended he hadn't heard anything and turned the other way. Violet fell asleep with Sunny in her arms, and the noise soon died down. But all was not well in their new home. But reader, if only you knew.

This, in fact, was only the beginning of their problems yet to come.
