"Stop." Dark uttered as she saw a familiar silhouette walking across the corridor.
Madilim ang lugar ngunit tila nagliwanag ang kaniyang paligid dahil sa presensiya ng babae. Muling nanumbalik ang iba't-ibang emosyon sa kaniyang dibdib.
His heart is beating again!
Nagsalubong ang kaniyang kilay nang makita ang isang lalaki na nakahawak sa bewang ng dalaga.
Why the fuck is he so annoying?
The woman paused for a moment. Hinawakan nito ang likod ng kasamang lalaki dahilan upang maglakad ito paalis.
Dark tightened his jaw.
"Who's that?" He massaged his neck out of frustration as the light coming out the window flashed at the woman's backless dress.
She turned to him and lifted her left eyebrow, "None of your business." she said moving her gaze to him while sipping her glass of champagne.
She's really here.
There was a minute of silence.
His mood changed and tried to keep his smile from showing when he noticed the necklace she was wearing.
When the woman realized where he was looking, she tried to cover her neck by merely scratching it.
He took a sip of his wine too, "You came."
Nakatitig siya sa babae at pinagmamasdan nang taimtim ang bawat kilos nito.
"What happened to us?" he almost choke with his question.
"There's no 'us', sir." Dark can sense her annoyance even though her face remain emotionless. "Please excuse me."
She walked away but Dark asked her again.
"So, that man was your date?"
"Is my date, yes." looking back, the woman answered emphasizing the word 'is' and looked at him with a smile.
"He's..." Dark hesitated a little but continued, "Your man?"
The woman elegantly wipes the corner of her mouth and then looked at him, her eyes were sharp and cold, "Please refrain from asking questions so casually, we no longer know each other."
Goddamn gorgeous.
Naglakad ito palapit sa kaniya. Amoy na amoy ni Dark ang nakabibighaning bango nito at ang aroma ng inumin sa bibig ng dalaga nang bumulong ito sa kaniyang kanang tenga, "You look dashing though."
Hinawakan ng babae ang kaniyang dibdib at dahan-dahang hinaplos saka ito lumayo sa kaniya at seryosong naglakad paalis.
Tila napaso ang kaniyang katawan dahil sa haplos ng dalaga na nagpahinto kay Dark. Ang boses nito ay kaaya-aya pa rin sa kaniyang pandinig. Huminga siya nang malalim at pinakalma ang sarili. He was about to chase her when the man she was with earlier came.
You'll look desperate, Dark. Do not.
After a minute of realization, he massaged his neck.
Fuck it! "Of course, I'm desperate."
Frustrated, he drank all of the wine in his glass in one gulp.
Naglakad siya pababa ng hagdan upang hanapin ang babae ngunit hindi niya ito makita. Inikot niya ang buong mansyon ngunit hindi niya ito natagpuan.
Not again.
He fixed his suit with a rueful smile.
He shouldn't make a fuss out of this. This is not the day, he second thought.
