9 years later

The dark night sky filled with stars, the moonlight shinning down upon naive, Mercury. Mercury was out late looking for her friend, Keila. She checked her phone and realized it has been half an hour since she's seen her. Worry filled the young 19 year old's face. She ran her hand through her, platinum blonde hair. Her big green eyes searching frantically through the dark streets.

"What the fuck, are you doing?" Mercury heard a loud angry voice behind her yell. She winced as she recognized the always angry voice. She then slowly turned around to see Donovan's harsh gaze upon her.

"Do you know what time it is. It's fucking 12:37." Donovan yelled angrily.

"Gosh, you don't need to cuss so much." Mercury muttered quietly, looking down as she was getting scolded.

"I will cuss any fucking time I want to. Now, why are you out so late? These streets aren't safe for anyone." Donovan said while looking around as if someone was watching them.

"It's a long story, but I'm looking for my friend. I lost her around 30 minutes ago." Mercury said quickly. She pulled out her phone and showed him a picture of her friend.

"That's her." she said. Donovan looked at the picture and tried remembering if he's seen the girl, around.

"Come on lets go find her," Mercury said pulling him towards her direction. Donovan immediately pulled her back towards his direction.

"Your not going anywhere. I'll drop you off with Alec, and I'll look for your dumb ass friend." Donovan said not giving Mercury time to argue. He pulled Mercury's arm, he didn't pull it hard because he knew he could easily hurt her. He didn't want to ever hurt her, no matter how angry he was.

Over the years, Donovan watched Mercury grow up to be the beautiful women he always knew she'll be. Her beautiful wavy blonde hair reminded him of Disney princess Aurora's. The way her hair would move gracefully in any simple movement she made. Her big bright green eyes, oblivious to the evil world around her. Oblivious of the lustful stares, she always received. Donovan never said anything to the men, as he knew they wouldn't dare try anything with Mercury. One harsh glare and they would run. They knew that they had no chance to be with Mercury since Donovan was in the way.

Mercury entered Donovan's car. She was in the passenger seat, worried for her friend. As Donovan was smoothly driving the car, Mercury was scared for she had no idea where her friend was. Donovan parked the car in front of Alec's apartment. They both got out the car and quietly walked towards the building. Alec buzzed his best-friend in and they soon were in the same room.

When Alec realized Donovan was with Mercury he smiled. He knows Donovan likes her, but Donovan would never admit it. Donovan would always say she was too happy for him. But, Alec knew that was the reason why he liked her. Donovan would always talk about her in any way possible.

"Babysit her for a little bit. I gotta find her dumbass friend, she's lucky it's a small town." Donovan said annoyed.

"I'm not a child, I don't need babysitting." Mercury pouted as she crossed her arms. Donovan rolled his eyes annoyed at Mercury's comment.

"Don't even let me start-" he was cut off by Alec.

"Go look for her friend and stop picking a fight." Alec said to Donovan. Mercury showed Donovan the picture of her friend and air dropped it to him. Donovan saw the picture and was walking towards the door.

"Mercury next time don't be out late by yourself. If this happens again you call me." Donovan said waiting for her to answer. She simply nodded her head, but Donovan gave her a look wanting her to say more.

"Okay Donovan." She said feeling like the child Donovan was treating her as.

Donovan then walked out of the building searching for her friend. What type of 19 year old girl gets lost, he thought to himself.

He was searching around in his car for the girl until he decided maybe he should get off and walk. He parked his car and started looking for the girl. She was no where to be seen. He sent a quick text to Mercury on where was the last time she saw her. She replied saying the taco truck near the seven eleven on 8th street.

So that's where he headed. He was only looking for this chick because he didn't like the worried look in Mercury's face. He went to the taco truck and saw nothing. He entered the seven eleven and saw the drunk girl fighting the cashier for some alcohol.

He immediately hated Mercury's choice of friends. On the bright side, he found her friend but Donovan doesn't usually see the bright side of things.

"Look lady I already told you to leave." yelled out the cashier.

"Come on, don't be a buzz kill. Just give me the alcohol for free." her words were slurred and almost unrecognizable with how intoxicated she was.

Donovan was starting to think on what Mercury was doing before her friend got lost. Donovan quickly texted Mercury on what her friends name was and she replied immediately.

"Hey Keila, I'm a friend of Mercury and she's worried about you. She told me to pick you up here." Donovan said with a bored tone. He honestly didn't like this girl. No one like her should be associated with Mercury. But then again no one should be associated with Mercury. That girl was too good for this world.

"Well hello there." Keila said with a smirk. Donovan rolled his eyes.

"It's gonna be a long fucking night," he muttered to himself. He checked his phone and it was almost 2.

"What's your name cutie," asked Keila. Donovan started thinking if he should just leave this girl here alone at the seven eleven, intoxicated. But, his thoughts then went back to Mercury's worried some face. He had to pick this girl up, for Mercury.

"Just get in the car," he said and without hesitation she did. She kept on trying to flirt with him and Donovan tried his best to zone her out. They finally arrived in Alex's apartment and she was still trying to shoot her shot.

Donovan went inside the apartment with the annoying drunk girl right behind him. He walked in to see Mercury asleep on the couch. Donovan quickly covered Keila's mouth not wanting to make any noise that would wake her up.

Alec came out of the bedroom and saw Donovan and the drunk girl. Alec motioned then to be quiet with his fingers.

Donovan told Keila to go to the bedroom and she happily went. He was honestly kind of mad that Mercury was sleeping on the couch while Keila slept on a comfy mattress.

Donovan got a warm blanket and put it over Mercury's body. He smiled as he saw her in such a peaceful state. The worry no longer on her face. He noticed how long her eyelashes were and how clear her skin was. Unlike, his which had a few scars and blemishes. He noticed how she had a small almost unseen able light brown mole on her upper left eye brow. He could just stare at her beauty for hours but it was getting late and he felt weird.

Donovan then quickly fell asleep on the sofa chair, near Mercury.
