his was the smile
that brightened
the darkest of days.his was the laugh
that made joy bloom
even in unfertile soil.his was the warmth
that melted ice
in the freezing cold.his was the heart
people would kill
to call their own.and it was him
that I fell
in love with first,
it's true.the boy I thought
of bringing home
to mother,
the boy I would've
braved the world for,
the boy I gave my trust
and whole heart to.but he broke me, you see.
he turned the loveliest
shades of pink to gray,
the loneliest shades
of blue even darker.he sparked fear within
that I've tried
to unlearn,
taught me things
I could've lived
not knowing.and then it began,
my coldest winter.feasts
were no longer merry,
adventures
no longer thrilling,
love
no longer moving.it was as if my soul
had left its flesh,
tired of all
that it's becoming.
