"The relationship I have with them is built on trust," Owen tells me as we approach the raptor cage. "Everyone seems to think it's about control." He guides me up to the bridge. "But it isn't." When he stops, I do too, and my eyes look down to see four sets staring back.

"They're beautiful," I say. "Do they have names?"

Owen smiles. "We've got Charlie." He throws some meat to her. "Delta." And again. "Echo." A third time. He pauses for a moment before throwing a piece of meat to the final raptor. "And Blue - she's the beta."

I smile. "And let me guess." I move to look at him. "You're the alpha."

Owen taps me on my back. "You got it, kid!"

I tap him back. "Not a kid."

"Right," he mutters as his eyes wonder elsewhere. "Oh god."

I look around, confused as to Owen's sudden change in emotion and see a guy walking towards us.

"You know, I was starting to think I hired the wrong guys, but I was watching earlier and damn, you got them eating out of your palm," he says upon approach.

I look up at Owen confused, I have absolutely no idea what this dude's talking about. All I know is that judging by Owen's face, he's a huge dick. He looks and sounds like one too.

"You came on a good day," Owen tells him. "It's not usually a happy ending."

"Is that why you're not sending in your reports?"

"We've been busy," Owen says.

"Not too busy to cash your paychecks."

Owen sighs, pulling me away from the man slightly. "Can you go with Barry for a bit? I need to sort this idiot out," he mutters to me and I nod, walking away without hesitation. Owen knows what he needs to do.

"Is he always like this?" I ask Barry from below. We're leant near Owen's car.

"Owen or Hoskins?"

They're arguing, I can tell. "Both."

"Owen's protective of his raptors, and Hoskins doesn't know his left hand from his right - he's only here for the money."

I sigh. "What about Claire? Can't she help?"

Barry laughs dryly. "Claire's the same. No one here really cares about the animals, they only care about the money that rolls in from guests."

I watch as Owen tries to walk away from Hoskins, but he stands in his way.

"I'll be right back," Barry tells me, heading towards the bridge just as Owen comes down but not long later, a man begins yelling.

"Pig loose! Pig loose!"

"Owen, no!" I hear Barry yell and run towards the cage where Hoskins is stood. Owen's gone inside with the raptors and suddenly everything seems to go in slow motion. I lost my family once, I can't lose Owen again.

"No, hold your fire! Hold your fire," Owen yells. Do not fire. Put 12 amps in these animals, they're never gonna trust me again." Blue inches forward. "Blue, stand down. Stand down." She looks like she's going to snap. "Hey! What did I just say?" All four of them are edging towards him. "Delta, I see you. Back up!" They stop. "Okay. Good." His eyes remain fixed on them. "Close the gate," he tells Barry.

"Are you crazy?" he asks as I yell,

"Owen, no!"

"Just trust me. Close the gate!"

Barry looks towards me and I shake my head, silently pleading with him not to do it. He turns away and pulls the lever. My heart stops in my chest and all I can do is watch as Owen leaps towards the gate, the raptors following. He just about makes it under as it shuts and I let out a huge sigh of relief.

"I'm okay," he tells Barry and I before turning to the guy who fell in. "You're the new guy, right?"

"Yeah."

"You ever wonder why there was a job opening?" The man's face pales. "Hey. Don't ever turn your back to the cage."

As Owen exits the outer cage, I pull him into a hug and he holds me close, stroking a hand through my hair. "I thought I was gonna lose you," I whisper, holding him tighter.

He pulls me back to look in my eyes. "Not on this island."

"Is everything okay?" Oliver asks.

I'm back in the plains for the daily checks. Having our inspection and then seeing Owen delayed my day, but now I'm getting back on track. I messaged Oliver about what happened at the raptor cage - he's currently back at the lab.

"Yeah."

"You sure?"

I sigh. "I just- I could've lost him again, you know?"

"But you didn't, luckily." He pauses. "Do you want me to come out?" he asks as I jump back into the car after checking one of the feeders.

"No, it's fine. I'm nearly done anyway. I'll see you in a bit."

"Okay, stay safe."

I put my radio on the dash as I begin driving again, but stop fairly quickly when I reach the top of the hill. Jumping from the car, I run over to a dead stegosaurus on the ground. "No no no," I mutter, looking over his body.

There are gashes all over his body - clearly claw marks - and I stand up, looking around. There's nothing in these plains that could cause this kind of damage. At least, nothing that's supposed to be here.

As I head back to the car, a roar echoes across the plains from the trees and I move slightly quicker, jumping back into the car.

"Oliver, come in."

"That was quick. Miss my voice so mu-"

"Oliver, shut up! Something's here."

"What? What do you mean?"

Then I see it. "Shit," I mutter, reversing the car backwards before swerving it around and speeding off towards the gate. It's getting closer...too close. I put my foot down, but it's still not fast enough.

"Kara, you s-t-l the-r?"

The radio's bugging out, why is the radio bugging out? FOCUS KARA! You're being chased by a dinosaur you've never seen before.

"Kara, the-s -tainm-nt br-ch. Ge- ut."

I have no clue what he's saying anymore, the static is too strong. I still can't see the gate, but I know I'm getting close. I look in my mirrors to see the dinosaur's vanished and I let out a sigh of relief. I've lost it.

A loud roar suddenly comes from my left and I see the shadow of the beast just as the car is hit from the side, rolling back down the hill. The dinosaur is getting closer, but the world is getting darker. The last thing I see are it's jaws before everything goes black.
