"You don't just stop loving someone!" –Niall Horan, 2012
Four years after "Just Another Girl." Rory and Harry have long since broken up. Izzy and Niall decided they were better friends than lovers. Rory is 20, spending her summer interning at the biggest nonprofit PR firm in London. The PR firm works with charities and celebrities to raise money. She's living with Louis. The boys are on hiatus. Niall is in Ireland. Liam is in Wolverhampton. Zayn has left the band and is in L.A. with Gigi, but is still on good terms with everyone. Louis still shares an apartment in London with Harry, but since Rory is there for the summer, he left to stay in New York.
I have been sitting in this meeting for probably my entire life. I'm usually all for team meetings. I love listening to all of our upcoming events and getting assignments, but today I'm just not feeling it. Maybe because it's in the middle of a beautiful summer day, and I'm stuck inside staring out of a huge window overlooking a luscious green park. I wish Mr. Hyde, the president of the company, would just hurry up and reveal his big idea for UK's Cancer Research Foundation, the biggest charity in all of England. I should honestly just be honored to be in the presence of PR royalty. This was the most competitive internship in the field, considering they are the best firm out there and only take on one intern every summer. The sound of Mr. Hyde's voice brings me in from my summer day dream.
"So finally, for the big reveal of our CRF fundraiser. This one took a lot of work to coordinate. It will be held in three weeks at Wembley Stadium."
A couple of gasps go out around the room. Wembley is the biggest stadium in the country, holding 90,000 people. I sit up a little straighter in anticipation. If Mr. Hyde got Wembley for an event, this had to be big. I can't even imagine who he booked for this. The biggest names in the business flash through my head.
"We will have the biggest act in music performing." Mr. Hyde glances at me. A sense of doom creeps over my entire body, and I don't even know why. I return Mr. Hyde's smile.
"Thanks to our very own intern, Rory Tomlinson."
No.
Oh no.
"We will do something that no one sees coming. If we pull this off, we'll make over 15 million pounds for this charity."
No, we won't.
"We're breaking One Direction out of hiatus to play!" Mr. Hyde practically yells, and the whole room immediately breaks out in hype. This isn't happening.
My heart is racing a thousand kilometers a minute. I feel like I'm hyperventilating. I may or may not have gotten this internship by saying that I was Louis Tomlinson's little sister so I am very versed in dealing with celebrities. God, I shouldn't have done that. I timidly raise my hand into the air. Everyone quiets down.
