"Artemis! Hello?! I said, 'I'm going to take the car!'"
I woke up groggily to an insistent banging on my door, followed by Mal's annoying whine. I rolled over and cracked my eyes open a bit. My room was dark, but my clock read '11:23am'. Confused, I looked around. Over my windows, Elle had draped her thick, purple curtains. I smiled. 'God, I love her,' I thought, fondly.
"Artemis! Give me the god damn keys! I have to be at Kelsey's in five freaking minutes!" Another loud bang against my door, followed by a frantic jiggling of the door knob. I groaned and literally crawled out of my bed, grabbing my keys out of my jewelry box.
"Calm down, they're right here. Fill it up on your way back and I'll pay you back tomorrow." I mumbled as I opened my door just enough to fit my hand through and drop the keys in her impatiently waiting hands. She snatched the keys and ran for the stairs.
"Whatever." She snorted. I listened as the front door slammed shut and my car roared to life and screeched down the driveway.
"One scratch on my car..." I whispered, banging my head against the door dramatically. I softly shut my door and climbed back into the safe, warm confines of my bed and hunkered down for a few more 'Z's'. But there was a soft knock on my door.
"Artemis? You up?" Brent asked, poking his head in.
"I am for sure now." I growled, rolling on to my back and glaring daggers at the cieling.
"Well, you have a visitor. A Stiles?" Brent said, totally confused. "Is he your boyfriend? Do we need to have a talk about-"
I sat bolt upright in bed, horror written all over my face.
"No! No! No! Just- Send him up." I sputtered, my face five shades of burgundy. Brent quickly ducked out of the room, obviously just as embarrassed as I was. I began frantically running my fingers through my hair and smoothing out my tank and sweats. Moments later there was another soft knock on the door.
"Come in." The door swung open to reveal Stiles. He looked a little lost and as clumsy as ever. He stepped in and swung the door shut behind him and looked up at me. I smiled, shyly.
"Hey." I said, smoothing out my comforter out of nervousness.
"Hey. Just came to check on you. I heard about last night." I slid over so he could sit beside me on the bed. He watched me as I played with a lock of hair, refusing to look him in the eye.
"So, what happened?" He asked. I glanced up for a second, but decided my hair was more interesting. I shrugged.
"I don't know."
"You were there. What do you think happened?" I shrugged again. He let an exasperated sigh and ran his hand through his hair. "Artemis, why did you even go to that party? I told you not to. You promised."
I sat back so my back rested against the head board and I locked eyes with him.
"I know. But it was just a party. And everyone was going. You couldn't expect me just to stay here at home while everyone else was there. You were there." I said, crossing my arms, daring him to argue. He smirked.
"So you went because you thought I'd be there?"
"No. I went because I thought you wouldn't be. Scott said you guys were busy." I snapped, getting annoyed. Why should I sit there and let him chastise me for going to a party? A party he had gone to. He frowned.
"I'm sorry. But it's like I said before. There's a lot going on that you don't know about. And I wish I could tell you, I do, but I can't."
I rolled my eyes. "So you came all the way here just to tell me that you can't tell me anything?" He smirked again.
