"Yeah umma I would be fine don't worry about me"i said to my mum on the phone
"Be careful with Rajwa"she said on the phone
"I would Insha Allah"it was the last thing I said to her before going out to the hotel.
"Maheer we have an unfinished business"I said to myself. I hailed a taxi and it drove me all to the apartment which I was shared with him.
I was in front of the apartment door and breathed then knocked but no one answered I then turned the knob and it was open,weird.
I held rajwa and the divorce papers which i signed, i kept rajwa on the L-shaped couch then moved to his room and no one was there.
I heard a woman's voice which sounded familiar coming from my room.
"That's unusual"I said to myself and i opened the door and saw Maheer kissing her.
"You I trusted you I hate you so much right now"I said to her
"Maheer!"I said out
"Rukayyah welcome but dont get angry because its explainable"he said with an evil smirk on his face
"You low life here are the papers"I threw them at his face.
"Hold on we have to talk and its important"he followed me to the living room
"There's nothing to talk about I have seen enough today and thats enough to make me believe that am nothing to you"
"Wont you even let me see my daughter?" He said while I picked rajwa
"Never Maheer, you are not her father. Her father died a long time ago because the man standing right here is someone else i dont know,he's such a monster"i took my bag and swung it on my shoulder
"Rukayyah listen to me"he held my hands trying to stop me from going out and tears gathered up in my eyes.
"I loved you Maheer, I gave you all I had and I gave you myself,I still cant believe I trusted you after everything"I said while I bursted out crying
"I know maybe am just afraid"
"Afraid of what?"i slapped him "let go of me you coward"I went out of the house with a sprint.
"Rukayyah"he said when I was about to cross the road "hold on" I didn't care before I stepped on the road without checking whether a car was coming.
"Watch out"he screamed but before I could turn a trunk speeding ahead hit me all I wanted was for rajwa to be safe and I held her so tightly and curled her in my body.
Hearing rajwa crying and seeing Maheer pick her from the ground was the last thing I saw and i heard him saying I shouldn't give up.
Maheer's Pov
I never expected rukayyah to come home and seeing me cheating though we weren't together anymore but all what was happening was because I was a coward.
There was a trunk speeding ahead and she didn't look at the road before she crossed. All because she was angry.
"Watch out"I screamed but I was late to stop her,I saw her little body bleeding,She curled up our daughther in her own body and I picked up my child then Rukayyah slowly started giving in.
"Rukayyah no dont give up" I said while i shook her body, i held her bleeding head to my chest it stained the white shirt i was wearing. My world was being ripped into bits slowly.
The trunk didn't stay but fled away, I had to solve the mess on my own.
I rushed to the parking lot and kept rajwa at the back of the car then carried rukayyah to the car.
I hit the gear and rushed to the hospital she kept saying something but It wasn't comprehensible.
"Rajwa my baby"she finally spoke out clearly.
"Dont take her away please"she said with her eyes tightly closed
"Dont please I need her"then she passed out
When I got to the hospital she was rushed into the emergency unit while I stayed to clear the paperwork and also got rajwa attended to.
I was seated with my hands supporting my chin then the doctor came up to my place.
"Is she okay?can i please see her?"I desperately asked
"Your wife is okay we were able to sustain her but she lost alot of blood"
"What do you mean?" I high jacked his white coat
"Can you please follow me to my office"
"Mr Maheer please take a seat" he offered
"What's wrong with my wife?"
"You have to take this in a bit easily"
"Say something worth hearing"i hit his table with my fist
"Not quite long ago, your wife was here in this hospital for a test,she complained about headaches and how her blood pressure kept rising. At that time we came to find out that she had some symptoms of amnesia due to the events happening in her life"the doctor said
"Whats now happening?"
"Am sorry but your wife wont remember anything from her past,Rukayyah has Anterograde amnesia"he said
"What did I just do?" I said to myself, my world came to a pause.
"You have to take it easy but there's nothing we can do but pray for her"
"Dont tell me that..." I stood up "what about my daughter?"
"She sustained just some minor injuries and she's being attended to"
"Oh please you are lying about my wife" I walked up to the door and banged it.

I called everyone possible, her family and mine with some of her friends.When my mum came,she stood by me and i got a gift of her anger.
"Rukayyah wouldn't have been in this condition if you didn't do what you did"then i got a slap on each cheek
"Hajiya dont do this to him,his your son and the girl in there is my daughter,its all part of Qadr"Rukayyah mother's said
"No, Umma I deserve it" I said while holding my cheek because it stings due to the slap.
"You need more than that Maheer, I have never seen my best friend so ruined such as the way she is as now" Ayyub said
"The way I saw how you looked at her I thought it was real you are just fake like the rest that broke her apart"he concluded
"Am so disappointed in you"my dad whispered,my uncle couldn't look at me he was in shame.
I just got up from where I was and walked outside
"Maheer"radeeyah said "listen to me"
"Radeeyah everyone is right"
"No they are not"she said with confidence
"Now is the time to clean up your mess,Rukayyah is in her deep down but you would have look for her I know you can do it"
"Am a coward"
"No,you are strong both her and rajwa need you the most now they have only you Maheer thats all I can tell you dont give up and am sorry"she said before walking away.
I just sat down on the ground and with my hands covering my head"I didn't mean to hurt you Rukayyah even though I promised you"
"If I didn't ask for the divorce we would have been at home now"
"Rajwa is here in the hospital I never planned for all this"
"I hope you forgive me some day" I said to myself with her on my mind.
