Burden

When you placed

this burden on my soul

You cursed me with misery

Tortured me with tragedy

Robbed me of my innocence

Long gone childhood

Misplaced dreams eroded

While you carefully thrived in ignorance

OH! What a martyr

Let the world fall to its Knees

and mourn your comedy

Let the crystal tears

burn their path down your clay cheeks

While I fade with a fire within

That consumes me whole

Refuses me peace

Cruelty incarnated

Were you not meant to protect

to love

to hold?

Where is the beauty in your mask?

Cracked and tainted
