"Thanks a lot Allie," I complained in dentition.
"You're welcome." I rolled my eyes and turned back to my math homework. The numbers jumbled in my head like an unsolvable puzzle. I could do anything but math. Allie was already finished with all of her homework. She was a genius or something. I was not. It was so not fair. Why does she get to be the smart one?
"Why'd you get me dentition anyway?" I asked. "I mean, I'm okay with getting in a little trouble with you, but detention for a week! My parents are gonna kill me!"
"I needed to talk to you."
"About what?"
"Last week."
"What do you mean?"
"Don't play dumb, Hayden. I saw you. I was there, remember? I'm your best friend, you can tell me anything." I knew that, but I still wasn't gonna tell her. Last week I accidentally used my powers. Yes, that's my big secret. I have powers. ("Whoa!" Everyone in all of human existence exclaims sarcastically. "I did not see that coming!") Sort of like demigods and wizards, except, well, real. I have the power to control stuff with my mind. Telekinesis, I believe it's called.
When no one is around, I like to play around with my powers. For example, if I'm alone in my room, I'll do some complex rearranging. In other words, I'll move everything in my room to somewhere else and then move it back so my parents don't notice. I haven't told them about my strange powers, yet. Anyway, after school last week, I though I was alone so I decided to have some fun. I was the the parking lot behind school and there were several cars just sitting there waiting to be played with. Normal people play with toy cars. I play with real cars. I lifted the first car and began "driving" it around the parking lot. I eventually got bored (it's not as exciting as you would imagine) and left. As I rounded the corner, Allie was standing there, her arms crossed over her chest.
"What was that?" she demanded.
"What was what?"
"That! You moved that car with your mind! I saw it!"
"I don't know what your talking about," I said as I quickly walked away.
"Hayden! Wait!" I pretended not to be able to hear her and jogged home. I haven't used my powers since. I hoped she had forgotten about that little incident, but here we are.
"Allie, I have no clue as to what you are talking about."
"I know you're lying. I can see right through you."
"Why because we're such great friends?" I snickered. "Allie. I'm telling the truth. I don't know what you're talking about." she sighed heavily.
"How bout this? I'll tell you my secret if you tell me about your telekinesis. There's no one around but us, so you can talk freely. Okay?"
"You have a secret?"
"Just tell me."
"Fine, but there's not much to tell."
"I don't care."
"So, I have telekinesis. That's about it."
"Show me," she said. I sighed and lifted the desk in front of me a few feet off the ground.
"Satisfied? Now, your secret."
"I'm like you."
