Rose's Thorns: A Tale of Fate

Chapter Eight

Well... I'm not dead. I was surprised that Victor actually didn't kill me! I wanted him to, he deserved it. I had no idea that I was the only one he had left. I honestly thought that he just said that as hot air. But the fact that he chose my life over his being normal life was tremendous. Damn it, I fucking killed his sister then threatened to kill him!
I always thought that he at least had his mother; she seemed pretty happy to see him alive in the hospital.
       The night after what happened on the cliff, we were in my bedroom, sharing a pack of cigarettes I stole and a couple of beer bottles I found in the back of the fridge. I was really thinking about what he told me; "I was all he had left." My face must've gave it away. "What's wrong?" Victor asked. "First smoke?"
        I shook my head, and asked him what his words during our first fight meant.
He looked down, and said quietly, "When Adeline died, my mom started drinking." He paused. "She blamed it all on me. She told me that I was just a mistake; a blowjob gone wrong. That she just didn't have enough money for the abortion."
Victor covered his eyes with his hands. "I was already mad at myself. With her on top of it all, I was just depressed. Took my anger out on everyone else. It made me feel somewhat in control of at least something."
I felt bad that I wasn't there for him. I should've done something.
After he told me that, my head was spinning. I was sympathetic and angry at the same time. Then I had an idea:
"You know what?" I stood up. "Let's test out those powers of yours."
He looked confused. "Wha- I just told you something really personal, and all you care about is what I can do!?"
       I smiled. "How would you like to see your mother dead?"
       His eyes widened.
      "I was thinking of a bit of payback; someone you can practice on."
      Hesitation. "A-are you sure? What if we get caught?"
     I laughed. "Do you really think that a couple of cops could go against us?" He thought about it, then smiled. "I would like to see her scream."
