Something that made me angry from Girl Meets World was when people would always tell Maya how she needs to change. They wanted her to dress nicer, get better grades, and stop being so rebellious/getting in trouble all the time.
Whenever Maya actually did start to mature then people would tell her that she wasn't herself and that she was trying to be Riley...
What's so wrong with Maya trying to change her life around for the better? It's like when she actually started to listen to everyone's advice and as she started to mature, people would tell her that that's not her... I felt like they were being hypocrites (or in Shawn's words hypochondriacs 😂)
Honestly though, I didn't feel like Maya was trying to be Riley or whatever... People are allowed to change and still be themselves, it's called growing up and it's gonna happen someday.
Someone who I'm close to once told me that these are the years where you go through changes and you begin to figure out who you truly are, and I believe it's true. Plus everyone on the show went through changes, and they were all okay with it. When it was Maya though, it was like the world was against her...
What were your thoughts on all of this?
Did you think it was just apart of her growing up, or that she really was trying to be Riley?
