Ivy's POV

After we confirmed our friendship, lunch was over. I stood up and Xavier followed as usual. The day continued on with him following me to differant lessons and finally it was home time.

" Bye Ivy, Oh and remember to bring your lunch tommorow okay?" Xavier said sternly while waving his hand goodbye.

I nodded and mumbled a bye and then he left. I walked home, which to be honest I wasn't looking forward to, I wish mum's not home yet. I turned onto our road and my eyes quickly averted towards the driveway of my house to find it empty.

Yes! Mums not home.

I walked towards my house with a smile on my face and opened the door to my house with the house keys.

My stomach grumbled and I clutched my stomach. I forgot I hadn't eaten all day. I skipped towards the kitchen after carelessly throwing my school bag on the floor, I'll pick it up later.

As I was entering the kitchen I was thinking of what to make. I sat on the kitchen counter thinking. Hmmmm pasta sounds good. I jumped off the counter and decided to make it. I got all the ingredients out for it and got started.

45 minutes later it was done and ready to eat. I made enough for both me and mum since I knew she wouldn't make any dinner tonight. Her excuse everyday was that she was too 'tired' to make anything that is why we ordered out nearly everyday and I was getting fat. I looked down at my tummy to see it was a bit bloated.

I sighed and got two bowls out filling it with the delicious looking pasta, I put one to the side for mum to eat when she got back and I got my bowl and went towards the living room.

I got myself comfy on the sofa while reaching for the remote. I haven't watched T.V in ages and I knew this was my only chance since mum wasn't home. I switched it on and flicked thorugh the channels till I found one I liked.

I sat indian style on the sofa while holding my bowl of pasta close to me. I lifted up my fork and hungrily shovelled a whole mouthful of pasta in my mouth. Mmmmmm this was good.

I sighed in peace and content, I haven't been this peaceful in a long time. I was halfway finished my pasta when my peaceful moment was over. Mum was home, I could hear her high heels clacking on the wodden floor. Well it was good while it lasted.

She entered the living room with my school bag in her left hand and her handbag in her right.

" Ivy, what are you eating?" She asked me, I didn't even get a greeting.

" Pasta, I made it for both of us" I whispered looking down, I was too afraid to look into her eyes.

" Speak up! And what about the left overs from yesterday" She asked, I didn't say anything.

" There are children out there who have no food and here you are wasting food when there are leftovers, you don't appreciate anything!" She screamed at me. I know there are children out there who are dying of starvation but please as if she really cares about them.

" Ivy, why do we have a dinner table?" She asked sweetly, but I knew she was faking it, it was all an act.

I didn't answer for a while before I spoke up in a whisper. " To eat"

" Then why are you sitting here, do you want the sofas to get ruined" She screeched looking disapointed with me.

All I wanted to do was to come back from school and eat, watch T.V and then go to my room avoiding her at any cost, but that didn't go as planned.

" And why was your school bag infront of the door, were you waitng for me to come and pick it up!" She shouted. " I'm not your maid!" She finished. How could I forget to pick it up?
