It wasn't unusual for Hank to come home slightly drunk. What was unusual was for his android partner to be there waiting for him.

"For fucks sake, Connor. Don't you have somewhere else to be?" He slurred accusingly, tossing his jacket down onto the couch.

Connor looked at him disapprovingly. "No. Actually." He replied blankly, picking up the jacket to hang it on the back of a kitchen chair.

Hank fell onto his lounge heavily and released and exhausted huff as he tilted his head back. He was going to regret this tomorrow.

Rubbing his eyes and sitting forward he pressed Connor for answers, "How did you even get in?"

Connor walked to his side, a glass of water in his hand. He extended it to the man, who took it and drank it in one swig.

"The door, Lieutenant." Connor replied matter-of-factly.

Hank glared at him from the other side of the cup, making small smile tease at the corner of Connor's lips. He'd always enjoyed making fun of Hank.

Hank handed him the empty glass, which Connor proceeded to take back to the kitchen. The older man leaned forward to proceed to remove his shoes when all of a sudden, he was struck by the severity of his drunken vertigo. Woozy and dizzy, he felt himself sway forward toward the floor when two cool, delicate hands took his shoulders. Connor had seen it coming a mile away. The android helped the man lean back into the cushioned support of the lounge. Hank was so clumsy when he had been drinking.

"Allow me, Lieutenant." Connor hummed, as he moved to slide the shoes off his compromised partner's feet, but not without some irritated resistance.

Hank grizzled and grumbled something about 'fuckin androids' as Connor pinned the man's leg and removed a shoe forcibly.

"This would go a lot more smoothly if you didn't resist, Lieutenant." Connor reasoned, his brows lifting in an attempt to guilt the man.

"It'd go a lot more smoothly if you weren't in my fucking house." Hank grumbled in response, lifting his other leg and accepting his inability to overpower the determined android.

Connor thanked him for his cooperation to which he nodded in response, slightly embarrassed over the whole ordeal.

Despite how irritating he could be Hank had to admit that he would be at a complete loss without Connor. Whenever he needed someone, whether it be to complete a file, catch a bad guy or even just feed sumo; Connor always came through. What's more; he never asked for anything in return, which was actually something Hank held a large amount of guilt over. He truly did intend to make it up to the android one day... but... he looked at the empty Jack Daniels bottle to his right discerningly... how could he even begin to show his appreciation for someone who had stood by him so fervently when he was so undeserving of his everything in the first place. How could he ever repay him for his kindness and patience? How could he ever show him how much he appreciated his honesty? But most importantly, how could he tell him how genuinely scared he was that one day he would disappear from his life?

Hank would never admit it but as he looked at the tall, lean man walking to the shoe rack, he had to acknowledge that he valued Connor more than he had ever let on.
