I am so in love with you.
"Sod off, Malfoy." Harry grumbled angrily at the Slytherin in front of him. Ron slung his arm around Harry's shoulders and turned him away from Draco. He began to lead them down the other end of the hall, trying to avoid a physical fight.
Draco glared in disgust as the two left, afraid they'd look back. Once gone, Draco's face contorted back to normal but with a small, fond smile as well. That had been one of the better fake fights they had lately and he was proud they didn't go too far but just far enough.
Draco and Harry have been dating in secret for almost four months now. They haven't told their friends because they want it to be just them for now. It's not that they don't love their friends, no, they just aren't ready for them to know about their relationship yet. Therefore, Harry and Draco have to execute fake fights to make sure the outsiders know they still 'hate' each other.
At first, the fights were bloody horrible to do. Draco always ended up overstepping a boundary when he didn't mean to. He was so used to how they fought before that the old insults were still there. He cried to Harry about it, apologizing profusely and promising he'd do better. Harry forgave him every time, he knew from personal experience it was hard to break old habits. Now here they are, two enemies dating in secret from the world.
I love you.
As their four month anniversary approaches, both of them know that it's time to do something big, something special. Neither had any idea of what to do yet though.
They had celebrated their first month anniversary on September 9th since they started dating over the summer. The Hogwarts school year was just starting up in time for them to celebrate together. They had gone on a walk in the Forbidden Forest and just caught up on everything that had happened over their summer break. They recounted their experience back in first year and laughed at how ironic it was they were walking the same path.
Their second month anniversary was a bit rocky. They had encountered many troubles trying to keep their relationship a secret since the year began. They met by the Great Lake for a date. Their second anniversary was filled with thick tension in the air and yelling in the beginning. As they argued for about a half hour, Draco broke into tears and apologized for being a horrible boyfriend. That caused Harry's heart to break and take Draco in a tight embrace. They ended up lying on the ground and staring at the stars. They didn't talk much, they didn't need to, everything they wanted to say could be said through their actions and looks. That anniversary wasn't their favorite, but they were really glad it happened.
Anniversary number three went a lot smoother. After all the problems from their second month celebration, they had established boundaries and lines that they weren't supposed to cross. That seemed to help them both a lot and they found themselves growing closer to each other. Neither of them had said 'I love you' or anything like that yet, both of them were too nervous to. Their third month anniversary was one of their best yet. Harry had taken it upon himself to set up a romantic dinner at the top of the Astronomy Tower. Candles lit the area as rose petals were found lying around and on the table. They spent the evening laughing and talking whilst eating and relaxing. It was in that moment, they both knew there was no going back now.
You're the love of my life.
December 9th marks their four month anniversary together. Harry knows it's time to say it. To say those words they both had been avoiding. So tonight had to be perfect, not cheesy, but perfect.
The lake was frozen over from the temperature and weather that the winter season had brought. It was perfect to ice skate on and Draco loved to ice skate. Harry had been planning this date for a long time now and he had a perfect vision in his mind of how it would go, which in turn left Draco clueless to the entire thing.
It was in Potions when Harry slipped Draco a note telling him to meet at the Great Lake at seven. Luckily, no one had payed much mind as he walked past the Slytherin, delivered the note, and left as the students were filing out of the classroom.
The day felt like an eternity for the couple as they went about their classes. Finally, the time for dinner had arrived. Draco and Harry kept sharing glances to each other as they picked at their food, too excited and nervous to try and eat. When it was around 6:45, Harry excuses himself from his friends, he had told them he wasn't feeling well and was going to retire back to the dorm for the night. Draco had used a similar excuse with his friends as he left moments after Harry did.
They both arrived at the lake only minutes apart, matching grins grew on their faces. They had waited so long for another date. They only allow themselves to go on two dates each month, one of them included their special anniversary date.
Draco shivered slightly from the cold air that met with his warm skin. He tugged his coat on tighter and wrapped his arms around himself in a hugging manner. Though he was cold, he couldn't help but keep the smile on his face as his cheeks grew pink from the icy air. He loved spending time with Harry and would suffer through anything for him, even if that meant freezing in the bitter weather.
Harry took a moment to stare openly at Draco with so much adoration in his eyes. He knew tonight would be the perfect night to say what he had been afraid to say and he knew all would be well either way. He shook his head and chuckled as Draco's teeth chattered. He offered up his hand in front of the blonde, "Care to go for a skate?" Draco nodded happily and enthusiastically took Harry's hand. Harry transformed their shoes into skates and lead them out on the ice.
They skated for what felt like hours and hours. They weren't half bad skaters as they danced and played around. The night was filled with giggles and shouts of joy as the two chased each other around and had tickle fights , stealing kisses from one another every so often. It was after about exactly an hour and fifteen minutes when they decided to stop for the night. Both laid down on the soft snow that covered the ground and stared up at the sky.
Silence passed between the pair as they caught their breaths. "It's gorgeous." Draco spoke quietly as he intertwined his fingers with Harry's. He was staring up at the clear sky, looking at the constellations. He hadn't noticed that Harry was watching him instead of the beautiful nights sky.
"Yeah, it sure is." He whispered softly as his eyes stayed locked on his boyfriend. All these thoughts were going through his head as he stared intensely at Draco. He stared for one more moment before speaking again and looking up at the sky. "I am so in love with you, Draco."
Draco was dumbfounded as his gaze snapped from the sky to look at Harry. Had he heard him correctly? There was no way he could be mistaken. Deciding not to make a big deal out of it, Draco did what he thought would be best. "I am very much in love with you too, Harry."
It was that night that changed everything and nothing for them. They were still as close as before but it felt as if they were even closer. That would be their favorite anniversary for a long time, at least until they grew older and got married. That night would certainly be a date to remember.
I will love you always.
