Last time: "Hey guys, what's up? And what are we talking about?" Elijah asked.
The boys were frozen in their places when they heard the Punk's voice from behind them. They honestly didn't know of what to do, so Mikey took it upon himself and did the only thing he was good at, stalling and fibbing.
"O-Oh, ummm, hahaha uh- well we were talking about of how... we should put in a new game console, besides, the other one was getting old anyways. What do you think?" He asked nervously, rubbing the back of his neck, but Elijah saw right through him.
"Mikey, I know when you're lying, come on guys, come clean." She said, getting irritated and impatient. When they didn't make eye contact or a say word to her, Elijah was seeing the picture. Her eyes widened, "You guys wanted to talk to me about putting Max down." She said in a quiet voice, but then her eyes turned into a cold glare. "What the fuck did I say before? No means no." She hissed out in anger.
"Elijah, I know you have your reasons, you don't want to loose him because he's your best friend, but-" She cut Swift off.
"THATS NOT THE ONLY FUCKING REASON, IDIOT!!!!!!!" She shouted at him all of a sudden, making the others flinch. "That's not the only reason why I don't want to loose Max, but it's because he's been with me since I was a kid, it's like I'm loosing another member from my family. He's all I have and the only thing that was a good memory to remember from my past. I just... I want him by my side as long as he can before he leaves." She choked out through her quiet and muffled sobs, covering her face so the others don't see the tears.
"Eli..." Ghost all of a sudden said out loud, making the others look at him in slight surprise. The purple punk walked over to her slowly and once he was close enough, he hugged her comfortingly. "It will be alright, we'll get you another dog, just don't cry. You're breaking our hearts here." He whispered for only Elijah to hear, rubbing her back.
"I just want Max." She said, hiccuping.
"I know, but we know as much as you do that we don't want him to suffer. He's lived long enough and you have to learn to let go, even if it hurts. Please... do this for him." He explained.
A few minutes later, the Punk finally calmed down and looked up at Ghost, nodding.
"Okay..."
*Time Skip*
Everyone was in the lab, Elijah sitting on the table with Max's head resting on her lap while petting his head gently. Donnie came over with a needle in his hand, filled up with a substance to help Max go to sleep. Elijah took a deep breath, trying to hold in her tears. "You ready?" Donnie asked her, looking apologetic.
She nodded slowly, "Yeah..." And looked down at her dog. "Goodbye Max, I love you..." She whispered and hugged him, resting her forehead on his.
Donnie injected the serum into his front left leg and then pulled out a couple of seconds later, stepping back. Slowly, Max started to close his eyes, his breathing slowing down. Pretty soon, he was gone forever. Elijah then opened her eyes and looked at her now dead best friend in her lap, the human then didn't care if the others were watching, she let the tears go but didn't make any noise or movements.
"Elijah?" Rebel asked. The others were starting to get worried since she wasn't saying anything. She was just... staring at Max. Then, she covered her eyes, but the turtles could see her smile.
"He's not in pain anymore..." She whispered, but the others heard her. "But I am."
Swift then quickly walked over to her side. "Elijah, I promise you, you're gonna get through this, we'll help you, okay? Everything will be fine." He said and hugged her. "Do you know why?" He asked.
"No..." She answered.
"Because we're here for you."
