You and Corbyn broke up.
-/-
Before you, Corbyn wasn't able to write a song all by himself. He could sing any song that someone put in front of him. Writing it before you came along, however; was impossible.
You were his muse. Every song he wrote was either about you or something he did with you. You were the endless inspiration for him.
He kept them all to himself, embarrassed what people would think about him. He never told anyone he wrote. His friends just thought he didn't write because he never tried to engage in the process.
Little did they know it hurts so much to write songs. You, even though out of his life, are still his muse. He still loves you so much.
He was sitting in a meeting. They had one of the best writers with them that day. They were ready to write 7/12. The group had already decided to perform it for the first time at [your hometown].
"Corbyn what do you think?" Jonah asked trying to get his friend to help.
"What?"
"What kind of song should we do? Upbeat, slow...?" Jonah repeated what they were talking about.
Corbyn knew it was now or never. He was either going to slow his songs now and perform it on stage while you were hopefully watching or he was going to let you go forever. He knew he wasn't ready for the latter.
"I, well, I have an idea." He put the papers of lyrics on the table.
"Oh damn man," Daniel said. "You just wrote this overnight?"
"Well no, but like I wrote these for [your name]. I never had the courage to show you. They aren't that good. I was just thinking I could maybe win her back at the concert," Corbyn trailed off worried that they wouldn't like his idea. "Never mind. This was stupid."
Zach was holding one of his sheets. "No dude, this is amazing. This would work perfectly."
Tom, the writer, looked at what Zach was reading. "He's right. This would fit perfectly with what Daniel's melody."
Jack patted Corbyn on his back. "Don't worry man. You're gonna get her back. She still loves you."
Corbyn looked up surprised. "What how do you know that?"
"Girls talk man."
He laughed. His laugh was real for the first time in weeks. "And you're a girl with your long hair Jackilyn."
—
It was the day of the concert. Jack made sure through Gabbie that you would come to the concert.
Corbyn was nervous. They would finish with the 7/12 song. What if you walked out before the show was finished? What if you didn't like him? He was walking around backstage making everyone there nervous.
Jonah gathered everyone. "Corbyn stop stressing out it'll be alright." The boy spoken to wasn't listening. "Corbyn!"
"Yea, what? We'll do great," he tried blending into the conversation.
Jonah shook his head. The five boys put their hands together. "Why don't we," they said while pushing their hands down.
Daniel patted Corbyn on his shoulder walking past him. "You'll get back together."
Corbyn couldn't remember much of the concert. It was all a daze in his mind. He kept trying to find you in the crowd but it was impossible. There were too many people. For once Corbyn wished there weren't this many people. That he could just see you in the crowd. The way you smiled when he did something goofy on stage.
It was the end of the concert all the boys looked expectingly at Corbyn waiting for him to gather the courage to open his mouth. "As you all know, I used to have this amazing girlfriend [your name]. Due to unfortunate reasons, we broke up. I can't speak for her but I still love her so much. She has been my muse since I first talked to her. I've written tons of songs for her. And eh yeah here this is for you [your name]."
The music started. Corbyn has never been so sure of something in his life. He loved you.
"We fell in love in October
That's why, I love fall
Looking at the stars
Admiring from afar"The rest of the boys joined in the chorus. The crowd had gotten their phones out and put the flashlights on. It felt like magic at that moment.
"My girl, my girl, my girl
You will be
My girl, my girl, my girl, my girl
You will be
My world, my world, my world, my world
You will be my girl"Immediately when the song ended Corbyns phone began to ring.
"I love you too."
He didn't need to be said twice and ran off stage leaving the other guys to say bye. You were more important at the moment. He was sure all limelights would understand.
"Where are you?" He was breathing heavily due to first performing and now sprinting to where the crowd was.
"I'm already backstage," you said the same moment Corbyn saw you. You were you, perfect as always for him. You were wearing an enormous smile that showed all your teeth.
You looked so much better than he imagined you. You were radiating happiness. You started full on laughing when you saw him. It sounded like music to his ears. Corbyn couldn't move anymore, at least that's how it felt.
You slowly walked to him. You cupped his face with your hand bringing your foreheads together. "I missed you so much," you whispered.
Corbyn felt the words hit his lips. "I missed you too."
You pulled him even closer, and kissed him. It didn't feel like sparks were flying around it felt normal. It felt like this was what's supposed to happen.
The love between you and Corbyn wasn't extraordinary or special. It was meant to be. It just felt right.
