"So what're y'all gonna do when ya get home?" Epps asked.

"I'm going to my Mama's and eating that sweet alligator barbecue," Fig said fondly.

"Dude you been goin' on about gator and crickets for weeks. I ain't ever goin' to your mama's house." Epps said, disgusted. Everyone chuckled and Fig ranted in Spanish before calming down.

"What about you Cap?" Fig asked Lennox.

"I just can't wait to hold my baby girl for the first time." Everyone 'aww'd and laughed at Lennox's demise. He rolled his eyes and told us off. Then he turned to me.

"What about you L/n?" He asked.

"You know me, I probably won't go on leave. I don't have anyone to go back to." I said with a sad smile.

"Are you kidding? We know nothing about you. Just go do something, I'm sure Morshower is tired of your ass being around 24/7." Epps chuckled. I laughed and set my head back against the wall of the plane we were on.

"I'm good. We're getting rookies in next week, I'll probably help out and train them." I said.

"That's boring," Lennox said and I shrugged.

"That's because I am boring dumbass." I retorted and he rolled his eyes.

"Whatever, just try to enjoy yourself for once is all I'm saying." He said.

"I do. Especially when rookies come in. I get to kick their overconfident asses and show them up." I said confidently.

"Dude you kick all of our asses," Epps complained and I smiled.

"Damn straight," I said and the guys laughed.

"Lennox we need to move, this thing can and will kill us!" I yelled over the sound of gunfire.

"I know! Grab your packs! We gotta go! Head north!" Lennox ordered and everyone scrambled to get out of the base. We ran through the sand in the dark for hours until we could no longer run.

"We're screwed, man," Epps said in between deep breaths. I stood watch as they caught their breath and drank small bits of water.

"No, we'll be fine. We just need to keep moving." I said calmly.

"And how do you know that? You seem awful calm for just being attacked by a giant robot." Lennox said. I ignored him and turned to Mahfouz, the little boy we saved from a camp the other day.

"Hey, how far away is your home?" I asked.

"Not far." He answered and I nodded.

"Good, let's go," I said and everyone got up.

It took us five hours to find a cell tower and we stopped again to take a break. Now the sun was high in the sky and blazing down on our backs. I stood guard again and paused when I felt the ground rumble. Shit, it's back.

"Everyone move!" I yelled just in time as Lennox was about to get stabbed. We started firing and ran to the town. I heard a scream and watched as Donnelly was stabbed and killed.

"Shit! Go, go, go!" Lennox yelled and everyone took defensive positions in the town. Mahfouz and Lennox went to find a phone while Epps and I waited for him to get back.

After a few minutes, Lennox came back, yelling for Epps' wallet.

"What pocket?!" He yelled.

"My back pocket!" Epps yelled back.

"You've got ten back pockets! Which one!" Lennox shouted.

"Left cheek! Left cheek!" Epps yelled and Lennox reached in the pocket and pulled out a credit card. He proceeded to yell into the phone and hand it to Epps when he was done. I stopped listening as Epps shouted into the phone and ordered backup.
