5 - Road Trip

(Hey guys, so I changed your rank from general to a new rank called vanguard. Trust me, it'll be cool.)

"Depends on how long, why?" Ironhide asked.

"Well, I've been told to introduce the lot of you to the President. Morshower said I should take two or more of you guys with me. I wondered if you'd like to come with?" I asked. He raised an eyebrow at that and took a minute to respond.

"Why me?" He asked.

"I don't know, I want to get to know all of you better. You just happened to be my first choice. I couldn't tell you why, but you don't have to go if you don't want to. Just thought I'd offer." I told him.

"I'll go." He said gruffly. "When do we leave?"

"I've got half an hour to figure out personnel and transportation and then we leave half an hour after that. Do you know where Optimus is?" I asked.

"Talking to Ratchet in the medbay, you want a lift?" He asked and I shrugged.

"Sure," I said and he offered me a hand. I stepped on and just about jumped out of my skin when I heard a chirp from my shoulder. "Jesus little one, you scared the shit outta me."

The sparkling just chirped happily and nuzzled against my jaw. I rolled my eyes playfully and played with his little fingers.

"How long will it take to get to this President of yours?" Ironhide asked.

"Well, it depends on what type of transportation we use. We can either drive there or fly there. If we fly then we'll have two days with nothing to do but if we drive, then we'll have more time to prepare and we get to drive really fast. Military plates are great." I said with a smug smile.

"I would rather drive. I'm a grounder for a reason." He said gruffly.

"I figured that's what you'd want to do," I said as he walked into the medbay. Both Optimus and Ratchet turned to look at us.

"Y/n what are you doing back here, are you hurt?" Ratchet asked, concerned.

"No, no I'm good," I said with a smile. "I actually need you two to come with me. The President would like to meet the lot of you."

"Of course, when would he like to meet?" Optimus asked.

"Three days. Y'all up for a road trip?" I asked.

"Why not take a transport?" Ratchet asked.

"Because that would be a long, cramped flight and I figured that you guys wouldn't want to stay in a really busy city with nothing to do for two days. But, we can take a transport if y'all would like." I explained.

"I believe we could all benefit from learning more about the Earth, driving sounds like the better choice," Optimus said.

"Alright, road trip it is. If y'all don't mind, we leave in thirty." I said and they all agreed. I nodded and looked up at Ironhide as he walked out of the room only to see he was looking at me with a confused face. "What's wrong?"

"How come your insignias look different from everyone else's?" He asked.

"Well, my rank insignias are different because I'm in a rank of my own. It's called Vanguard. President Kennedy gave it to me before he died." I said melancholically.

"Interesting." He hummed. "I'm sorry for your loss.

"Thank you. Kennedy was a great President, and he led the human race to a big leap in technological advancement. Space exploration." I explained. Then I looked up at him. "Meet me out in the parking lot, I have to go do something real quick."
