James Possible's footsteps clicked down the hallway of Middleton Memorial Hospital. He'd been taking the same walk for the past few months. He checked his watch for the time and looked at the white walls. He knew he and his wife Ann had to make a critical decision soon.
"How is she?" Ron asked for the billionth time. He looked miserable and cold.
James shook his head. "The same as all the other days. My Kimmie cub needs to wake up." Tears ran down his cheeks as he silently prayed for a miracle to happen.
Ron's sadness was becoming a struggle. He kept blaming himself for her being in here. If only he'd chosen a different play on the football field maybe this wouldn't have happened.
Senior year was a bust for a lot of people. Many didn't even get to graduate. Some had to go to summer school.
Kim had gotten the worst of it all. She lay hooked up to medical gear and prayed for by friends and family daily.
It was now eighty-four days later.
James was in Kim's room reading science articles online on his Ipad. He'd been in here for over three hours and was getting sleepy.
Eyes began to open to harsh lights. They looked around and tried to focus. Kim felt her pulse quicken at the sight of her dear father. "Dad?" Kim's weary voice entered his ears.
James was shook and whipped around to see her eyes open. He dropped his Ipad and ran over to her bed and tears spilled from his tired eyes. "Kim! Oh . . . It's a miracle that you woke up!"
"What happened?" She asked looking around the very flowered hospital room.
He was shaking, but smiled at her. "Let me get your mother and the nurse. I'll be back in a jiffy." James took off, leaving the door to her room wide open.

Another nurse saw him running away and went to look in the room. Kim waved and saw the shock on her face. The nurse came inside. "We all thought the worst." She said, feeling herself get emotional. "No one thought you would wake up after the accident." She moved a strand of brown hair from her oval face. "Welcome back!"
Kim was super curious now. What the heck had happened to her? The nurse grabbed her chart and came inside. She began to check her vitals.
Kim heard the clack of shoes running from many feet on the floors outside. "Kimmie!" Ann cried out and ran over to her. "Honey, how are you feeling?"
Kim weakly smiled. "I feel okay."
Another nurse came into the room and the current one stepped out. "I've been watching you sleep for almost three months."
WHAT? Kim's mind raced. Her voice sharply yelled out, "Three months?!"
Nurse Tyler nodded and began checking the vitals now. "Your parents insisted we keep you hooked up. They said you'd fight to come back and well you proved them right."
Kim asked, "What happened to me?"
Her dad came closer. "You were on top of the cheerleader pyramid when a football was kicked into it and disaster came. Many of the cheerleaders have factures, broken bones and you got the worst of it. Emergency surgery on your left leg and your head." James said and didn't want to give any other details.
Ann wiped her tears off her face. "The surgery was tricky, but we saved you. When you didn't wake up from it we all were gutted."
"I'm better now." Kim insisted, but knew getting back to her old self would take longer.
