Chapter 7: Reliving Emptiness
A diverse collection of passengers occupied the ship; ranging from newborns to the elderly. The majority of teenagers and young adults gathered at the pool area to escape the sun's rays. Other passengers stood against the ship's railings to gaze at the distance and scenery. The surrounding ocean mesmerized the passengers and hid underwater mysteries within its stomach.
"Is this your first time on a ship Jun?" Lunette asked, her body moving closely to Jun's. The pair moved on the deck, walking by several passengers that lounge near the pool.
Jun nodded and replied, "There's nothing like this in the Slums.. You?"
Lunette shook her head and replied, "This is probably my third time on a ship. Whenever grandmother had business in other countries she would take me with her on ship." The pair gazed at the glittering ocean from the railings. "Didn't think my escape would be on a ship though," Lunette spoke with a slight chuckle.
"Are you fine with this escape?" Jun asked.
Lunette nodded, "If I stayed they would've came after me, better to escape than stay."
"Hey it's Jun! And his girl friend," Pent's voice spoke from behind the pair. Jun and Lunette turned around to see Pent, Lynx, and Flake all holding white pastries in their hands.
"Her name is Lunette," Flake told Pent with a light push against his shoulder.
"Oh, yeah Lunette, sorry," Pent said with a mouthful of the pastry.
Lunette giggled and said, "Looks like you guys found the food."
Flake spoke with a wide smile on her face, "These are so good! You want to go get some Lunette? I could go for some more."
Lunette nodded and returned the smile as she replied, "Sure, you want any Jun? I'll get some for you."
"I'm fine.. Thanks though.." Jun replied.
"Okay, I'll be back," Lunette informed. She walked away with Flake by her side.
"Hey, I want some more too!" Pent yelled as he followed the girls.
Lynx stood next to Jun and leaned against the railing. His eyes stared at the ocean around him as he spoke, "Hey Jun, been pretty hectic lately huh?"
Jun nodded, "It is what it is.. It's nice to have some peace though.."
"I hear you," Lynx agreed, "I never thought so many things could happen within such a small time frame."
A large sea serpent creature stood out from the water, boasting its scales that elegantly reflect the rainbow light. Its long neck and head were exposed in the air as the rest of its body remained submerged under the distorted water. It let out a ferocious roar that could intimidate any deadly creature.
"A truly majestic creature isn't it?" A stocky man with an abnormal wardrobe spoke, standing nearby Jun and Lynx. His tinted glasses hid his eyes, a traveler's pack hugged his waist carrying mysterious items within it, a button-up shirt designed with tree leaves and flowers, and tan shorts that match the visor around his head.
"Huh?" Lynx questioned.
"That lessie that just swam by," the man pointed at the sea serpent with both his eyes and his finger. He spoke in awe of the creature's presence, "There have been so many documents about the World Before about a mythical creature the inhabitants during the World Before believed in. The creature used to roam the seas, striking fear and terror into any sailors that were unfortunate enough to be within its territory. I believe the creature was called the Lochnus Monster. However, there was controversy between the inhabitants of the World Before if the existence of this creature even existed," the man rambled on, spewing out information that no one understood.
