My grandpa once told me a beautiful fairy tale...

The weather is fantastic today. It was meant to be acid rain, but happily there're no clouds. It's sunny, windy and very hot. I wonder if I can take my gas mask off now... OK, this joke was really bad!

I'm walking down the footpath by the coast. I'm looking at the sea. It seems there's less plastic in it than there was last year. Also, there's more sand than rubbish on the beach. It's really weird...

When I was a kid my grandpa told me a story abut this place. He said that there had been an ocean once. With water, not plastic. I couldn't believe that. He told me that water had been salty and full of fish. He even showed me some photographs. They looked amazing. I asked him what had happened to the ocean. 'People destroyed it' he said. 'Humans made the ocean a trash can and kill the whole life in it.' I was shocked. I didn't understand why people had done anything like that. Grandpa laughed. 'Everyone had been thinking it's not their problem' he answered.

I see some dead seagulls on the left. They look awful. They're bald and partly rotten. I can see what's inside of them. Plastic. There's only plastic! It's disgusting! Are people really responsible for all of this? I still don't understand. Why would they do this? Why would my ancestors destroy my planet? Didn't they know what they were doing and what it would cost? I'm starting walking faster. I can't believe they didn't know. So why did they make our planet looks like rubbish? I'm trying, but I cannot understand. I'm probably too silly and young for that.

I'm keeping on walking. The wind is very strong. It's hard to walk straight. I think my grandfather was kidding. Oceans of salty water full of marine animals? It's impossible. I shouldn't have believed in that. Grandpa liked to make fool of me. He was always joking and I always took his words seriously. I'm laughing. I'm so stupid and credulous! The photos that he showed me were probably falsified. Oceans full of water? It sounds so dumb! How could I believe it?

I see a strange old woman sitting on the beach. She is crying and screaming. She doesn't have a gas mask on. I don't understand what she's saying. She must be crazy! I'm pretending not to see her and keeping on going. Then she's starting to cough. I decide to stop walking and look at her. She's coughing really bad... I'm calling an ambulance, but I think she's going to die before it comes. A stupid woman! Why didn't she take a gas mask with her? Doesn't she know that the air is polluted? She's crying for help. She can't breathe. I ignore her. I'm walking away. It's not my business after all. I can't help her, so why should I stay there?

I'm going home. It's getting cold and I don't want to get sick.
