The water was still and so were the weeping wallows and paper birch trees. Chartreuse lily pads topped with glorious water lilies drifted across the shimmering sapphire water which was now flowing aimlessly to match courses with the wind. It was a bright summer morning in June, June 27th to be exact. Today is the day where I tell my friends that I will be moving all the way to Europe. Europe. Both a dream and a nightmare.

I glanced over to my right to see my mother, who was responsible to the fact I was to be moving. She had bright grey eyes that can be almost mistaken as diamonds, and blonde hair with waves like on a perfect summer beach day. She was wearing a sun hat filled with wonderful peonies, daisies, and sunflowers. She was also wearing a stunning silk dress with a pair of her favorite yellow sandals. Not that I hate my mom, it's just that I hate her decisions. She left my dad for a seventy year-old man she met at a bar. It was heart breaking to see him leave. He was bright and intelligent. He was an English professor pursuing his dreams to become a writer. But mother had no patience, and thought that he wasn't enough I guess. The old man isn't any great. He's mean, rude, and grumpy. He took us out on a picnic, and right now he is fishing along the banks, stepping on daisies along the way.

I am the eldest in the family at sixteen years old, and I am to inherit the families fortune at twenty. In fact I have two obnoxious brothers and one bratty sister. The two boys are twins, both two years old and not ready to face the word no. My sister who is fourteen is greatly fascinated in photography, but at most makeup and jewelry. They all cause a racket and I worry my mother suffers from extreme migraines.

Dante and Jake were sitting on the blanket crying because the other didn't want to share his cookie. Cecilia was on a pygmy boat taking pictures of all the angles of the trees and fish complaining half the time how her sun hat keeps blowing off from the wind. Mother was with the twins helping them sort out their dispute with the cookies, and "father" was fishing, and already caught 3 cod fish.

I was here sitting on a rock near a bank writing letters to my actual father telling him all about my summer. I love to write but "father" tells me it is unprofessional and it wouldn't get me anywhere, but my actual father says otherwise.

My letters went a little like this;

Dear Father,

How is Vermont? Seems to me that it is absolutely stunning from the pictures that you sent me! My summer here is quite boresome without you. Dante and Jake are great though they cause a ruckus for mother. Cecilia is Cecilia. She still has a great interest in photography and she is elated by the fact that we are moving to Europe. I am great and I am halfway done with with my book. I will make sure to send it to you when I am done. Say hello to Bon-Bon for me!  I sent you a package for her a day ago. It is filled with canned tuna, yarn, and some feathery goodness she will have fun playing with.

Sincerely your loving daughter Julie
