Personality: Maria is a gentle soul. That's part of her charm. She seems innocent, but she's also smarter than a lot of people. She's also young, and when you're young, you think you're bulletproof. She's excited for the opportunity to go to Angeles, and ready to explore her new world through the Selection. That gives her an energy and an enthusiasm that not a lot of other people possess. She's ready to get out there and go, and she really isn't afraid of the consequences, even though her parents try to rein her in. She's also a hopeless romantic. If she were to fall for one of the Princes, then she'd fall hard. It's love that she cares about, and once her mind is set, nothing's gonna change it. What can I say? The girl's got heart.

Backstory: Maria has grown up in Bonita, it's the only place she's known. Her father is of Puerto Rican decent, while her mother is originally from Argentina. She grew up with her brother and her being joined at the hip. They would climb trees, go swimming, have foot races. But that all changed when Bernardo met his girlfriend. He never had time for his little sister anymore. That put a strain on the sibling's relationship, but Maria saw how happy her brother was, how in love he was. That's when she decided to do something for herself, that became musical theatre. She loved stepping into the shoes of another person and living out their life on stage. She's become well known in her Province for being leading ladies. She's had boyfriends, but they ultimately break up with her or cheat on her. You'd think she'd learn to pin down her heart, and she's tried, but she can't help but fall fast. She hopes she's not setting herself up for heartbreak, her parents aren't the most supportive of their daughter going through this. Maria however, sees it as an opportunity to explore more opportunities out there.
