I was getting ready for school, doing my hair and stuff. Although it usually doesn't take long for me to get ready. I brush my hair and put random clothes on. Then me and my brother ride our skateboards to school. Uhhh school. If there's one thing I hate more than school it would have to be the teachers at school.

"Lucas are you ready?" I asked my brother through a mouthful of toothpaste and saliva. Me and Lucas are twins, but nothing alike.

"Almost." He replied.

For one thing, he defiantly took way longer than me to get ready. But one thing we have in common was the farm. We both missed it a lot. We had recently moved from a peaceful, soothing farm, to the loud streets of New York.

Once he was ready we got on our way. We don't ride our skateboards anymore, because the teachers really don't like it when you store your dirty beaten up skateboard in their classrooms.

"So do you think you'll have the nerve to ask Riley to the dance tomorrow?" I asked him with a smirk.

"No Sam, no." He replied and laughed, I laughed too.

We walked along the New York traffic, instead I imagined walking through the the fields and along all the dirt paths. Me, Lucas and our old friends. We'd play tag, with all the room we could just run and run. There's no where to run in New York. My head was clouded with the thoughts of my old hometown.

"Sam! Sam! Sam!" Lucas was saying.

"Sorry what?"

"Well we're here." He laughed.

"Oh..thanks." I laughed too.

I continued into the school, backpack on my shoulder, hidden behind all the important people. I didn't care though, I liked not being seen or hear, especially in a place where I don't belong.

"Hey Sam!" My best friend Ariana called out to me, perkily waving her hand in my face.

"Hey Ariana." I pushed her hand down. "Do you have to do that every time you see me?"

"Well yeah! It's my thing. I'm nice, happy, perky, and your sad, mad, and cold. That's why we work." She did some random hand motions.

"I am not."

I was a little hurt by what Ariana said, but I couldn't let her notice. She was very perky...and I wasn't. But that didn't mean I was sad and cold. I thought she liked me, well I guess she does.

"Oh come on." She linked our arms and pulled me along with her to class.

When class finally ended I rushed out of there, I didn't want to be there any longer than I had to. Obviously I was running and not aware of my surroundings because I ran full on into someone. When I retrieved my books from the ground and looked up I saw that I hit Macy Hart.

Macy was a modern day hippie. She was the sweetest girl you'd ever meet, and she wore loud clothes and flowers in her blonde bouncy hair.

"I'm so sorry Samantha!" She blurted before I could apologize.

"No I'm sorry. It was my fault I wasn't watching where I was going." I replied.

"It's never your fault! Don't let anyone tell you that Samantha!" She replied fake crying then she danced off.

I laughed.

"So Samantha, are you ready to let me take you to the dance?" Farkle Minkus asked catching up to me.

"No, I'm not." I laughed. I secretly had a bit of a crush on him, but I couldn't let anyone know that.

"Your gonna wish you said yes when you could have." He winked then, I'm assuming, he ran off to flirt with another girl.

I smiled, then continued on my way to my locker. When I finally reached my destination I was relieved, because I only have two more minutes to get to class. I made it just as the bell rang. I was really hoping that Farkle would ask me. Yeah, I know what your thinking, didn't you already ask you? No he didn't, and I'm sure he's asked every other girl.

When the school day concluded, I found Lucas so we could walk home.

"So did you ask Riley to the dance?" I asked him with a smile.

"No I ... I asked..."
