Chapter 2: Tyler's POV
The next day I slipped the note in Thea's locker then went to mine just across from hers. Watching her open the locker was so stressful I swore I was going to throw up. Then I saw her beautiful smile, and I smiled too.
Then someone ruined it.
"Hey man, what's up." Kai asked me.
"Nothing." I answered
Before he said anything else to me, he turned to look across the hall, eyes zeroing in on Thea.
"Hey Raia! I think that outfit may be a bit too scandalous for a prude like you!"
I wanted to punch him.
Thea's friend Kendra turned around with a furious look in her eyes, that honestly scared me.
"Kai how bout' this, go f**k yourself because it seems like nobody else wants to."
Thea looked like she would rather be anywhere else while Kendra and Kai continued to yell at each other, so did I.
When I saw Thea start to walk away, I made an impulse decision that would change my life forever. I grabbed her wrist and turned her around, so she was looking at me. For a second, she looked scared, but then an effortless smiled graced her face.
"I'm sorry about Kai." I said, still grasping her wrist.
Her smile switched to a sad one.
"Thank you, but please don't try to clean up his messes. You don't deserve that Tyler Eliot." My hold on her wrist slackened, and she took the opportunity to walk away.

The only way I got away from my house and away from my arguing parents was football. Sadly, I was constantly surrounded by idiots, specifically Kai Ferris. For example, while most of the team was out on the other side of the field flirting with the cheerleaders, I was throwing the ball around with Jason, a Sophomore Quarterback.
"How's Ferris looking like, did he finally lose his ego."
I tossed the football back to him.
"This is going to be a shit season."
"What's new we've barely won the games we've played."
Jason wasn't wrong.
"Okay men let's get started. Eliot, Troy two laps. The rest of you pansies five."
"What the hell?" Kai screamed.
"Watch your mouth boy and do as told."
That is why I loved coach.

My dad had finally left to go back to work. That meant mom was in a better mood. Which I hoped would lift mine, because it was pretty low after practice. I loved football, I thought I was pretty good, but Kai ruined it. He didn't deserve to be on that field.
I just wanted it to be the next day so I could see Thea.
