It was 1pm. Rain looked up with disappointment on his laptop screen. It has been quite awhile since he started looking for otaku friends online. Sick and tired of people in real life around with whom he couldn't talk about his hobbies with,he had finally decided to make a separate Facebook account solely for the purpose of finding friends with similar hobbies. Too bad though. He kept coming across either creeps or girls who just wanted to use anime/manga as an excuse to flirt with him.
Rain was a third year Medicine undergraduate student. He had a quite normal life. Just a bit misfit because unlike his friends at college, he preferred watching anime or reading manga in his free time. He was a huge literature lover. Rather than talking about ongoing TV shows or Hollywood, he had otaku-ish tendencies. He knew there were a lot of people into the anime culture but tough luck! All the people around him didn't even know what anime meant. He had few friends like his 2 roommates at dorms and he did have fun with them but he desperately wanted people he could talk about his favourite anime/manga and songs with. So yes despite being an introvert who hated initiating conversations,he finally decided to check out strangers with similar hobbies. He had added a few people in his new account out of which one guy from Philippines called Javen was decent enough. He was starting to have fun chatting with him but he wasn't online much and then there was this issue of different time zones ugh!
Maybe I should give up duh Rain thought. Just as he was planning to log out, he noticed someone's comment  on a post of Javen. It was by someone named Sora Uchiha.
Well one last profile check before I log out! Rain decided and opened the profile of Sora Uchiha. It was a typical otaku account.  Apart from the fact that it was a boy from his country but a different city, Rain couldn't dig out any other information. But yes this guy likes a lot of animes that I love. Rain noticed on his wall. Oh well let's add him and then we will see. Rain sent a friend request and yawned. Just then he heard his mom calling out for lunch so he went downstairs for it. Rain's parent was just like any other couple. His mom was a housewife and his father worked in a company. He had 2 older siblings both of whom were married and had their own lives. That made him more sensitive to the fact that he was supposed to look after his parents and be there for them whenever they needed him!
Around 5pm his phone Facebook showed him notification that Sora had accepted his friend request. Rain automatically sent a message Hey! on messenger. He was surprised to get a reply quite soon. So he started chatting. The more he talked with this guy Sora, the more fun Rain started to have. It was like this guy and him had so much in common. They shared common interests in a lot of fields. Apart from hobbies, Sora was a high school student who looked forward to becoming a doctor in future. So Sora was really impressed when Rain told him he was an undergraduate student of medicine. Still a third year but was gonna be a doctor one day anyways. In short it was fun. And there was another thing. Rain was a bit reluctant to ask but he knew he had to. What if this is the friend I have always wanted? I gotta show some courage! So Rain asked if sora was into shounen ai/yaoi (Japanese animation and comic genre for boys love)anime and manga? Sora was a bit hesitant at first but then he accepted that yes. Rain was delighted. They both quickly cleared up the usual misconceptions about fudanshis  (boys who like stories based on boys love but are not necessarily gay or bi in real life). They both shared common passion towards the beauty of story lines and plots in yaoi mangas and how as being true otakus for such a long time they both knew very well where the dividing line between fantasy and reality was drawn.
Rain was delighted! It was the first time he could talk about his hobbies so openly! He couldn't with his normal friends as they would have judged him or doubted his real life personality because of his hobbies. He was so happy. It was like Sora was the dream guy friend he had always wanted. The level of comfort was cool. They way they could both drool over hot female characters and then get excited about a gay couple because of they awesome love story was so much fun. Within days Rain was starting to consider Sora a great friend already! It was the same for Sora. He was so happy to have come across such a nice guy online. Whom he could also look up to as a senpai! It was the start of a healthy and ideal otaku male bonding.
